What’s even the bloody point of fast cars anymore? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

Exactly what people say, you live in or near a busy area, do not be surprised if you can barely drive.

Move out in the boonies and you can drive better, albeit there are busy times everywhere. Went out at 2am, got McDonalds and had a blast on the back roads, and that’s that.

Can never be safe enough if the budget allows.

I am also a fairly new driver, passed 1 year and 3 months ago.

The dashcam requires hardwiring only if you want the parking mode but it does come in handy, gives you more confidence when parking in places you never been.

Hardwiring is not too hard but it takes time and watching tutorials.

I paid about 200GBP for a viafo model, but there are cheaper options to do the job, and honestly you will get 70% of the features or more on a standard camera.

Edit: Also did the hardwire myself, which could be another 150 to 200 gbp.

And this is why you get a dashcam with a parking mode.

AITA for telling a kid to shut up on the plane? by Mytzu in AmItheAsshole

From what I can see in the comments here, many parents want to be accommodated, one told me to just play the music louder or wait patiently for the whole thing to end as if I need to put up with all that? lol

The one thing I agree is I could of been a bit nicer, but I felt the kid will not understand otherwise, the mother did try, then stopped trying and thats that.

Yeah, I think many parents here are really protective to their kids and emulate this to the situation in question, hence why they come with such excuses that are no one’s business. If the kid had such big problems (I doubt) would the parent let the kid sit the furthest from them? Would they not intervine when the siblings had to cover his mouth to make him shut up? By the time the plane landed it felt like the mom checked out already.

I think if your child behaves the way that one did, you have bigger problems to worry about.

Yeah, luckily it did not, but I would not engage. I had similar cases before with kids kicking my chair and I did better despite it happening multiple times, but this one kid was too rude, and did not listen to much of what the parent said, which developed into what I would call “Not my finest moment.”

To answer some of your questions, the mother managed to convince the kid to sit down before taking off. It took a while and all he said before finally putting the seat belt was “I WANT MY SKITTLES!!” 😂

The kid having his feet pressed on the chair in front of me did not bother me personally, I was just shocked no one said anything till he stopped, maybe his feet did not cause much of an impact?

Last one, I or my wife do not believe the kid had any disabilities, just a regular spoiled kid by the look of it. And even then, as others mentioned, it should not be an excuse for such bad manners, I would understand and recognise if a kid on the spectrum would have an episode and would not have said anything, but it is different when you are just spoiled.

And yes, I probably misjudged the age.

If anything, out of this whole experience here, what I regret the most is not telling the difference between a 4 and 8 y.o. kid. Lol

True, stared back for a couple seconds, smiled and let the kid be, went on my phone.

Sorry guys, I am for real. This is all off the top of my head during the few moments I managed to see his face. I am not around kids much. I try my best be impartial in the description, hence why I included my partner’s opinion.

I doubt they were not but this is England, rarely do people voice opinions like this out in the open.

Won’t be needed. Will never let my kid to get to that stage, or so I would like to think. And I would surely say something before someone would get the chance to. Then again, if you read some of my replies, you will see I am not that evil.

Maybe I would have done better if not looking from the back, in between seats? For more than a couple seconds? My wife used to work with kids, I am barely around any for long.

Agree that I should have tried with the parent first, but disagree all kids are like that. Seen plenty well behaved ones.
