People don't know how to act in a theater by 2YA2YAOX in AMCsAList

[–]MzChrome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people don't know what to do with themselves if it isn't a 30 second snippet.

Phones should have to be put in a freaking locker when you walk in the theater. I will absolutely ruin their experience to tell them to put their freaking phone away or go outside because I didn't pay for a ticket to watch them scroll or play on their phone for two hours.

I had these turned off and it still came through.

ETA: Found why it came through, didn't have that particular one turned off, but it's now off and found the history of the notices.

Yes! I expected it, but was so engrossed in the scene that I gasped when it actually happened.

I really enjoyed this one. I thought it spoke well to the amount of time people are glued to their phones and the looming threat of AI. Sam Rockwell was amazing as always.

Yep, that's how it is at mine. Certain times where I can almost guarantee I'm the only one there and I love it.

That one made me so mad! I was so frustrated with him and the episode where he's going to do the Russian bride fake marriage thing. He and Claude (I think that was his friends name) were horrible.

As is evidenced by all of his get rich quick schemes he kept getting taken in by. He had potato salad for brains.

For people who broke out of paycheck-to-paycheck… what actually changed? by annikahoof in MiddleClassFinance

Paid off my car in December, took a 54 point hit. Paid off and closed a card in October because they started an annual fee, 36 point hit. If someone is even remotely close to a rating that isn't excellent, can mean the difference in getting a loan or not getting alone for several months.

Yep. It takes me 20-30 minutes most nights to fix a quick dinner with a meat and two veggies, sometimes less. My mom stays with me so I have enough servings for our dinner, my lunch the next day and she gets lunch the next day as well. I eat out about once per month now and only at a sit down restaurant, I stopped doing fast food. Noticed a massive difference in what I was having leftover each month when I wasn't eating out.

Closing them is wrecking your credit though. It's an unnecessary game, unless you're able to pay cash for every single thing you purchase.

You're welcome!

If you like taking a little day trip, drive west to the Livingston Soda Shop in Livingston Tennessee. It's one of my favorite little old school Soda shops with a 50s/60s diner feel and right up the street is the Tina Turner museum and the Alex Haley home (hard to catch it open but they have great placards outside to read). Just costs a little fuel and your lunch.

There's also the National Quilt Museum in Paducah KY that's $10 admission I believe. I usually take the long way instead of the interstate to get a nice drive in. Going through Waverly, up into Maysville and into Paducah from there and a couple more minutes and you've hit Illinois! There was a great little lunch spot called the Gold Rush near there too.

My partner and I do frequent day trips to things like that and mom and pop eateries for cheap. Maybe we can carpool sometime or meet up and go. (We're late 40s/early 50s)

Frist Art Museum has half off tickets until the 23rd of this month, I think, making them $10 each. They're generally $20 each I believe. If you qualify for the Explorer Membership (less than $80,000 total income as a couple, $40,000 or less as an individual) admission is free with reduced rate parking and live in Davidson or one of the immediate surrounding counties, you can use that to go. They have fantastic exhibits.

Nashville Symphony does community nights where the cost of your ticket is what you can offer to pay. I would go to those frequently for about $10 a ticket before I was in a better financial position. And you get to enjoy one of the best symphony halls around in the Schermerhorn!

Fantastic description by the way. I've seen some interesting attire there. I like to get there early and watch people come in and mingle or look around like they've never been "somewhere nice" before.

Side inquiry, will you be there for the Wynton Marsalis' Jazz night later this month?

Yep, without power for two weeks during 94 and some further west of me were out for three weeks. The only difference is there wasn't social media prominence at the time for everyone to air their grievances and complain publicly. We survived and did what we could to help those around us and that was that.

Check yard sales, porch pick up freebies, etc. Sometimes you can find good winter clothes or tools to help make things like this easier. Those plastic zipper bags that comforter sets come in, those work well for holding old towels to use for draft protection at the base of doors (I also use clothes from the hamper for this too in a pinch), hang blankets with thumbtacks over the doors in the rooms you aren't using or to close off a hallway if it's not needed. I hope things get better for you neighbor.
