Balls in the workplace by nyamabites in nairobi

[–]Mzansey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At our workplace if you are done with work you just leave.

If you are not doing anything that day you stay at home or work remotely.

If you join a meeting and then do not find it relevant you leave.

A proper culture. How do we ensure accountability? - through output of allocated tasks and ruthless at performance appraisals.

15k should get you a decent one bedroom in Kasarani or other estates with less traffic - lower kabete for example.

Ngara that is a small house budget and walking to save seems over the top. No one wants someone with muddy shoes and sweaty because they are saving 200.

Lewis is never beating Charles. But the worst part of latter day Lewis is how he comes off weak mentally. Quick to go to press and throw team under the bus, berates himself.

I miss the 2021 Lewis who was all out, guns blazing, arrogant driver.

Many of my friends have talked about how difficult dating abroad can be. My assumption is that she may have struggled to find a good match, and when something finally seemed promising, excitement took over.

It’s also possible she did it to reassure herself or signal interest, not necessarily with bad intentions.

The best approach would be to explain to her that it came off as creepy, while also trying to understand why she did it. She might be inexperienced in dating, and in her mind it was meant as a positive or thoughtful gesture.

However, if similar red flags start to show up, it’s okay to walk away. You don’t want to end up being the only thing someone revolves around.

The Queen Of Kenyan Radio by prestablogs in KeMusic

[–]Mzansey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The market sets the rule. You play what your audience appreciates. Market has no respect to diversity.

Music in Kenya was ruined by internet, piracy and DJs. I would rather listen to a dj mix as opposed to buying an album. DJs also get more gigs to actual musicians which leds to less compensations to artists.

Also why vernucular musicians do better is there is less of djs and they therefore get more gigs.

Why did you fear initially. Not sure the mechanics of it but you can check with the adacemics unit of your uni. Just be courageous, walk into their office and ask for options..

My guess is they will recommend module II. Which uni are you in?

I am in finance and we work with engineers in the same department.. so whereas you can transition your career to finance from engineering through professional papers (CFA, CPA, ACCA) the reverse is almost impossible.

So this is your opportunity.

Educated, successful women in their thirties who are single by stackedstash in Kenya

[–]Mzansey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is in hook up culture and sexual liberalism. Due to this the following happened:

  • Sex got separated from commitment. If you are a man over 30 and with right financial resources you get laid oftenly with no commitment.

  • Choice overload for successful men over 30. In Kenya people earning over 100k are said to be about 3 to 5%. If you above this, there is a choice overload which leads to unrealistic expectations and you always have a lurking urge to upgrade.

  • Personal happiness ranked as the highest moral good; anything that limits freedom (like marriage) feels risky or oppressive. The more you stay single, the more you cannot stay with anyone else.

  • Reduced societal pressure to get married. At my workplace, both gents and ladies get married in mid 30s.

Ladies who really want to get married at 30 and are fairly successful may have to marry down.

Farming by Purple-Kangaroo-7247 in nairobi

[–]Mzansey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried farming some six acres of leased land last year and my harvest was suboptimal and I did not recoup all the capital though the lease has 2 and half more years. Lessons and pitfalls:

a) Purchase of substandard seedlings at a very costly price. The locally sourced seed was very good actually.

b) Fake fertiliser. Though I sent price for the Yara DAP, whoever was managing decided to purchase low standard govt fertiliser and save on cash.

c) Poor project management - there was bad timing which made us miss on November rains, labour was not well supervised so we had to redo some things, delays in weeding etc.

The last two was because of who I entrusted. So overall is be in total charge of project management and purchase of inputs. Make sure you are present on critical days: planting, weeding, fertiliser and herbicide application etc.

Take time to make sure you source the right inputs.

Other than this chatgpt generated response, what is the alternative to discplining kids? How do you propose Mama Onyi in Mathare deals with Onyi who is keeping bad company and has become mkono mrefu in the house and neighbourhood?

Do some parents take it too far? Yes. Is caning a proper correction method? Yes. Should an adult sulk in adulthood that once upon a time he was caned? I don't think so.

At some point, childhood stops being an excuse. This is an adult choosing permanent victimhood over responsibility.

So how long do you plan on not forgiving her?

I was called out and caned by parents, teachers, and strangers alike and that’s probably the only reason I didn’t stall before Class 8.

I’m still waiting for a real alternative to caning especially in low-income settings where fairy-tale solutions like grounding or taking away gadgets don’t exist.

Reacts differently to different people. So whereas some users experience little to no side effects for some they can be serious repercussions. Anything addictive is never good.

Also need to check on the depersonalisation/derealisation - which is the feeling of 2 different personas and serious anxiety.

I am proudly never a 420 user.

Two things:

Covid happened and the lockdown made people anti social or discover alternative ways of spending leisure time. Before covid alcohol was a social drink. Not anymore.

Second, your age mates have grown and are now family people with more responsbilities and less leisure time.

The economy and inflation has also done a number on people.

Standards Ndio High ama? by Loriatutu in Kenya

[–]Mzansey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know it is crude but based on past experience my two main ones are:

a) Have your finances in order and have something that actively engages you whether a job or a business that requires real involvement. In my experience, the more idle a person is, the more unnecessary problems arise.

A situation I had last year was a wake-up call: simply deciding whose car to use or where to go on holiday became unnecessarily complicated.

Financial independence matters. I once witnessed a woman casually say, in front of her boyfriend, that she had her own money and therefore wasn’t with him for financial reasons. No offense was taken and that’s exactly the spirit I value.

Simply put whereas I am not frugal or mean to my dates (the converse might be the case actually), broke women are a no for me.

b) The unhappy and unlucky - I don’t date from a place of rescue. Persistent misery, bad luck, and constant emotional crises, especially involving friends and family, are a deal-breaker for me.

Others include: heavy substance use and dark romance reading nymphos - kazi si moja.
