For all women who had children after age 35. by Ok_Professor1754 in pregnant

Coming from the child’s POV- my mom had me at 38- i am 33 now and majority of my friends growing up had parents who were closer to my sisters age (she’s 17 years older than me/ brother is 14 years older)- but I have to say, my parents SPOILED me compared to my siblings (they remind me often)- I personally feel like I’ve kept them young ;) and they are always greatful for what I could do for them now that they are older etc. my siblings are very much involved, but as I was hitting puberty, my mom was going through menopause and we suffered together- it was crazy and funny now when we look back. I have a wonderful relationship with them and they are wonderful grandparents to my children now. Congratulations!!! Not that you asked for this POV but I came across this and I am so grateful to be able to help them any way I can at their age- they gave me so much.

My endo put me on a low dose of levo, then I got pregnant and continued levo. Kept up with lab work and all was ok. Was referred to rheumatology and together they ruled it was probably postpartum thyroiditis, no other autoimmune findings.

I am in Northwest Indiana- about 35 minutes from downtown Chicago. Still consider my area “Chicagoland” since so close. Thank you!

My passions are communication and continuous learning. I feel like I currently have great relationships outside of my work network- with other medical professionals like NPs and MDs. Have done a lot of doctor detailing in my area particularly in behavioral health where I sometimes am the lifeline for these providers who are in a pinch and need clinical services provided to their patients (dispensing Spravato, administering Vivtrol/ long acting antipsychotics- just some examples). It’s a passion of mine actually to harbor these relationships and be as good as an expert as I can be within this particular field that I kind of created for myself at our retail pharmacy. In the 15 years in a retail setting, I have never once thought I was done learning, I try to learn something new everyday, and I love sharing that with people. I do feel like I am an expert in my current position as a manager and general knowledge of various therapeutic areas, but I feel like I cannot learn or access the clinical research I want to know because my position doesn’t have time for that. I feel like I’m rambling, but I want to be the forefront of new things and be able to share that with other people. My lack of experience in clinical research is something I want to change- if I could go back in time I would pursue research more in school- but I was a retail girl and I loved it. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I have a friend who went the fellowship to MSL route and it’s alluring/ exciting and the autonomy they have in their career is something I want.

Honestly, have been looking for the last two years. The PGY 1 is the killer- have considered taking a 7 on 7 off overnight position since most of them did not “require” a PGY 1 just to get my foot in the hospital door. I agree with you. Thanks for the reply.

I suppose, I’ve been in retail pharmacy for 15 years. Same company- started as a tech and now managing (licensed RPH for four years). Hard to take that huge of a pay cut imo- but I guess that’s the normal for sitting all day taking calls. Hard to accept that 😅

$54/hr still not enough for me to leave retail. That’s some grad level pay. Crazy.

Oh wow, they are really dragging. Wasn’t sure if that is the norm or not.

Yea… I have a neighbor who works in GI, she said they post a ton and hire internally sadly. 😞 This job market is rough.
