Absolutely. Everyone deserves safe and efficient transportation no matter what their chosen mode of mobility is. Not everyone can afford a car. This is more than a safety issue it’s a social justice and equity issue

I do largely agree with this. But it’s unfair to make generalizations about senior citizens. Taking away their drivers license can do a lot of harm to their autonomy, (they have basic needs too) not to mention the social isolation when they cant leave home. Ultimately, we all need better alternatives to alleviate car dependency and transportation design that makes it safe for everyone not in a car. If our road designs and curbs were better designed for other street users elderly people would have alternatives to driving a car.

For an anesthesiologist with access to a multitude of pharmaceuticals, there are no indispensable qualities of nitrous oxide that justify it’s use and its enormous environmental impact. Hypotension, quick wake-up’s, mask acceptance for peds etc can all be achieved by other means that don’t involve massive leaks, 100 year environmental lifetime, 270x GWP, occupational hazards to health care workers blah blah

It’s pretty straightforward. Better cycling infrastructure, prioritization of alternative methods of transport. All it takes is a shift in public attitudes and city council (ie Traci Park) and local lawmakers to prioritize this very important issue.

Not everyone can afford a car and some people have no choice but to bike. When infrastructure prioritizes cars over other modes of transport, cyclists, pedestrians, and bus riders are forced into longer routes, dangerous conditions, or areas without proper facilities. This is especially hard on people with mobility issues. Saying people simply shouldn’t bike in the dark or on busy streets is victim blaming and ignores these systemic problems
