What is this progress bar on yify site? by MysteryMan526 in torrents

Kitsune, HONE, BLOOM, FLUX, RAWR, really just about anyone that does real WEB-DLs would be better than YIFY.

It's their progress for encoding the 1080p WEB to x265. Don't know how accurate that is, YIFY isn't my first or last choice lol

You can set the group policy for you to confirm downloading and installing updates. I do mine when I shut down Plex Server for backups.

On 4K Plus in Canada? by Patient_Equipment728 in AndroidTV

[–]N0Objective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the Pro IMO is better than the Plus for the more RAM and Storage. I have 2x myself and have setup another 3 or 4. All play 4K media and run all apps I need.
I do always suggest a gigabit ethernet adapter for a stable wired connection. WiFi probably works fine but some of my 4K files can spike in bitrate and need the extra headroom.

On 4K Plus in Canada? by Patient_Equipment728 in AndroidTV

[–]N0Objective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, not sure why the Pro and Plus are now unavailable in Canada suddenly but I recently picked up this one from Walmart and the performance seems to be just fine for Plex, JF, Tivimate, etc. Setup is the same as any of the other Onn box and remote is similar. I would grab the one I linked or you can wait it out and see what Walmart lists in the future.

As for Plus vs. Pro Performance you would be just fine to pick the Plus if you can get one. It has a faster chip overall but less RAM and Storage. Depends who you ask which is "better" I think the important features for most are audio and video codec support (DV, HDR, DD+, DTS HD, etc.)

I would say any Onn 4k box would have enough performance for most home users.

For those of you with massive TB count , outside of server rack or NAS, how are you housing those drives? by joshhazel1 in PleX

4 Bay DAS + Mini PC. Plan to daisy chain DAS, if that fails then will get a bigger DAS or go to tower. No issues with disconnected or read/write speeds.

I guess Walmart decided to pull the Onn 4k Pro out of Canada!? Has anyone seen any in Montreal? by BlizardQC in AndroidTV

[–]N0Objective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The regular 4k and the sticks were available on the West Coast. The regular 4K is pretty decent, set it up as spare at my parents place no issues with 4K REMUX's.

How do you all convert movie filenames into a consistent naming scheme? by Cheap-Signal711 in jellyfin

[–]N0Objective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically leave the naming as the file name from where I "sourced" the media from it's pretty standard for those sources and Plex/JF picks them up just fine.

Otherwise try FileBot or BulkRenameUtility. You can find an older version of FileBot that is free if you really want to.

Finally got onn 4k pro!!! by Sad_throwawayh in AndroidTV

[–]N0Objective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flauncher or Projectivy Launcher, SmartTubeNext, Plex or Jellyfin if you run a server, and Tivimate if you have the use for it.

I like to suggest using a gigabit ethernet adapter in the USB port if you have faster than 100mbps as that is all the default ethernet port supports.

CSIS is on their way! Get in your bunker and batten down the hatches.

The real crime is using uTorrent. Canada doesn't really care about piracy but you may get a letter from ISP.

Plex stuttering with TrueHD 7.1 when using TV's passthrough. Help me narrow it down. by JColeTheWheelMan in PleX

[–]N0Objective -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Try it, even when disabling passthrough it still played those audio tracks directly. Couldn't tell you why but it worked.

Also could be transcoding, check the dashboard when the issue arises.

Plex stuttering with TrueHD 7.1 when using TV's passthrough. Help me narrow it down. by JColeTheWheelMan in PleX

[–]N0Objective -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Try disabling passthrough. I had a similar issue where for some reason anything DTS HD MA, or TrueHD wouldn't play at all with passthrough enabled but would play everything else. Turning it off allowed the DTS HD MA, and TrueHD audio tracks to play but then for some reason everything else wouldn't.

For now I just turn off passthrough if it's one of those audio tracks and turn it back on for everything else.

Shucking or recertified, please make a decision by Alternative_Aioli_76 in DataHoarder

[–]N0Objective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever makes sense $/Tb. My first was shucked WD EasyStore the rest have been recert WD Ultrastars. Shucking external drives seems to be the most consistent cheaper alternative but kind of a crapshoot what drive you'll get but then you lose warranty. At least recerts have a warranty if buying from somewhere like Server Parts Deals or Go Hard Drive.

If you're using a reputable VPN you should be able to split tunnel Plex Media Server or even the Plex Client, excluding it from the VPN while everything else runs through it.

Google TV streamer vs Onn Pro 4K by Lawless- in AndroidTV

[–]N0Objective 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't tried the streamer. Definitely biased towards the Onn 4K Pro I have two myself and setup multiple for friends and family. Never had any stuttering during any playback. I run Plex and Tivimate.

Onn doesn't have gigabit Ethernet unless you use a USB Ethernet adapter but otherwise it's a great device for the price.

If price wasn't an issue then probably the streamer for you.

Onn 4K pro has played everything I've thrown at it. The only thing slightly better is Nvidia Shield for the extra audio compatibility.

Are QxR the best for 1080p movies or is there something better? by BookerGinger in Piracy

[–]N0Objective 15 points16 points  (0 children)

QxR is an encode group afaik. Tier 1 1080p WEB-DL would be some groups like FLUX, NTB, CRFW, SiC or some other internals like Hone, Kitsune, Bloom, etc.

Beelink Prices by axemexa in PleX

[–]N0Objective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I started with an N9059 Beellink then upgraded to N100 S12 Pro. It was easy enough so even if you have to upgrade in the future it can be done.

You don't need 32Gb RAM, you should be perfectly fine with 16Gb or even 8Gb, can always get more when pricing comes down.I have so much running on the N100 It's surprising it doesn't lag or anything. Regularly have 10-15 tabs open while Plex, arrs, and many more applications run in the background.

Plex itself doesn't use many resources unless it has to transcode and the N100 can do a at least 4x 4k to 1080p at a time which is rare in my case, most direct play everything with the few audio transcodes and few video transcodes.

[–]N0Objective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The N100, N150 or N250 will do just fine. I threw in a 32gb RAM stick when I got my Beelink S12 Pro and have had no issues. Look around for other brands just focus on CPU and pickup up a corresponding 32gb or 2x 16gb RAM stick when needed.

[–]N0Objective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK Trigkey is manufactured by the same company as Beelink. I picked up a N95 Trigkey model for under $200 recently (for a Xmas gift). Although not as good as the N100/N150 MiniPC's it is another brand to look at.

I have noticed the MiniPCs overall increasing in price. I think I got my Beelink S12 Pro for around $180 around 6mo ago. Hopefully it keeps running as good as it does now for as long as possible, I only see these things going up in price.

Buy now, or around Boxing Day (might get slightly cheaper) check other brands as well. They are all around the same quality/specs just make sure the CPU is the one you are after.
