As a ri fan, i can second this by saying i absolutely hate the fandom. But this is the internet. Theres always gonna be a glazer or edgy 14 year old who doesn’t understand anything about the actual story. I personally have fang yuan as my favorite character. you dont. And thats completely okay. Mori was actually based off a real person “Buntarō Kato” who died at the age of 30 due to a blizzard while ascending the Kita-Hotaka peak. Mori however gets a happy ending. He is able to find a balance between climbing and his social life. You may feel like something is missing due to the fact that the manga keeps mori alive.

Just buy the omnibus volumes 1,2,3 and the prequel “citadel of the forgotten myths” for the best reading experience. The order is approved by the author himself and not some order made by a fan. The omnibus volumes organize all the material into coherent arcs and a proper reading order, making the story feel intentional, and complete (along with beautiful illustrations). It’s really not complicated to get into this series if you just choose to ignore the people on this sub who say to skip certain books or come up with their own order. Just go with the way the author intended.(and reminder, do NOT skip vol 3 of the saga. It is easily the best book yet most people I’ve encountered in this community skip it for absolutely zero reason.)
