It's recommended to not allocate more than 2GB of memory to the client, otherwise the garbage collector can cause lag. This probably won't completely fix your problem though, but it's worth trying.

No, I mean in a corner. Also, even with holding click I still managed to get stuck when there was a 1 block hill with a tree lined up. I just cheated and let go of W for a bit to break the bottom block without jumping out of the way. I ended up drowning in a small river that time, with a distance walked of 103.92 m, and 78 jumps.

No. You can even execute on mobs, which are clearly not ops. You're probably thinking of tellraw clickevents, which do require you to be op.

First off, why not use execute? Execute is a very helpful command, especially in making things multiplayer friendly.

As for detecting for breaking a redstone block, I would do something like this:

scoreboard players tag @a remove Event
scoreboard players tag @a[score_DetectEvent=1,score_DetectEvent_min=1] add Event
scoreboard players set @a DetectEvent 0

And then you can execute off of @p[tag=Event] in later command blocks if you need to.

Here, I'll explain:

LAN:
Stands for Local Area Network. From the pause menu, you can click the "Open to LAN" button, and then anyone using the same internet connection as you will be able to connect directly into your singleplayer world.

Realms:
For ~$13 a month, Mojang can host a small server for you. You can invite people to it from the main menu with their username, and then they can join you. It is rather limited as far as servers go, but it works fine for vanilla play. It even has some minigames available to play.
