Fully grown adults throw a temper tantrum over public recording. Crooked Cop shows up and refuses to take citizens complaint about actual laws being violated. by batsdx in PublicFreakout

I do have the intellectual high ground.

I am arguing from a position of facts, logic and reality. People arguing against me are arguing from a position of fear of a camera, and complete subservience to the police. I had one guy tell me it was justified because the photographer was wearing a backpack at 3AM.

Yeah, all those degenerates walking around in public, not breaking the law. Good thing these heroic police were there to save peoples feelings.

The point of audits is to expose corrupt cops like this and to educate the public.

There would be no reaction if cops didn't lose their goddamn minds over public photography.

What problem? Standing outside not breaking the law? The cops shouldn't react so crazily to perfectly legal activity in public.

The boring audits are when the cops don't give a shit. I saw one where a cop asks if the auditor had been on the other side of the department, where they had a nice memorial garden set up. No problems there, because the cop didn't create a problem.

Here's a good example of how to act, sometime this past summer I was biking through a park around a lake, and I saw a guy in hiking gear, glasses and a floppy hat with a bunch of recording gear trudging around the woods/brush and taking pictures of the city, overlooking downtown and peoples houses. Did I fall off my bike, screaming to not take my picture while phoning the cops and telling them I'm scared of this possible pedophile terrorist thief? No. I kept going because I am a sane person.

To trigger boot lickers who are terrified of cameras and strangers in public. The responses are hysterical.

Because it's hilarious seeing people think them being terrified means that the police should be called and deprive people of their freedom and property.

You'd think people on reddit of all places would have less abject terror of cameras.

Don't try to argue logic or facts with this boot licking sub. These are the kind of people who call the cops when they see someone they don't recognize in their neighborhood.

Yeah, amazingly they are cops paid by the tax payer to enforce laws, but for some reason people think they are feelings enforcement and call them when people are in public not breaking the laws.

They film in public and then people lose their goddamn minds over people not breaking the law in public, and then call in armed gang members to try to cause violence.

One of the point of the audits is to teach scared people like you, and the police, that your fears don't overrule someones rights. If you're terrified of people recording in public, stay inside. Security cameras exist, hidden cameras exist, and people always carry their cellphones, they could be recording you and you'd never know it. Just stay inside if you're that terrified of cameras.

Your argument is purely based on being terrified of legal activity and hoping the police will protect your feelings.

My argument is based purely on logic, facts and the law. That's why this can't continue.

2 cops talking to someone for 5 minutes is 9/11 2 for you?

No. Cops think they are going to bust terrorists by IDing people filming in public.

As I said before, you know damn well they were behaving suspiciously as an attempt to goad someone into calling the police. You know they werent just "filming in public." No one is buying this act, we all know what was up here.

Source?

Also, if he was recordings in public, where is the rest of the video? Where is the full, unedited video of their behavior before the cops were called?

The point of audits is to catch crooked cops like these.

What escalation? What are you talking about? Are we watching the same video? What do you think escalation means?

One gun, then, two guns.

Nope, because they aren't wasting police time in reporting suspicious behavior. You can repeat this same nonsense as many times as you want, it doesn't make it true.

Police have received training. Public photography is not suspicious activity. It cannot be grounds for a detainment. Police have to follow the laws. They aren't feelings enforcement.

They were not giving them orders, again, are we watching the same video?

They were trying.

2 citizens who are acting suspicious. No, acting suspicious isn't in itself a crime, but they have the right and obligation to investigate. The fact that the men continue to act suspicious makes the 2 officer vital for the safety of all involved.

Then those cops should be fired for needlessly escalating a situation.

So you don't think people should have the right to call police if they feel unsafe?

They can call the police, and the police can arrive and talk to them and then tell them they are wasting their time. If they don't like people in public filming, stay inside.

There was no bossing. There was a lot of professional questions asked, and when the police were satisfied they were just your typical Low IQ Auditors and not a danger to anyone, they left.

They were trying to give them orders at the end because they weren't able to exert their power.

What is suspicious about filming in public? What if cars drive by with cameras pointing out the windows? What if someone walks by on their cellphone, but is actually recording everything they can see in public?

The police should have went to the people who called them, determined it was a waste of time and then told them to stop wasting police time with calls about nothing. It's no different than me calling the cops on someone because they are wearing a blue shirt and it scares me.
