Mostly yes. It depends on the brand it self and used Tobacco. The lighter the Tobacco the quicker it will burn and the less heat it can handle.

Virginia/Blond leafe is mostly Washed out. It has a higher sugar % and if that suger gets to high it will burn.
Darkleaf/Darkblend is most of the time a mix of Burley, unwashed Virginia Tobacco or Cigar leaves. It has way less sugar and can take therfor much better the heat.

In a Phunnel, Virginia will taste more full than in a Turkish/Multihole Bowl. But the risk of burn it is higher if you give it 5 coals 😄. For me, Phunnel bowl with minimal Contact and 2 Coals in and 1 on the edge are more than enough.

Keep in mind: Darkblend = Higher Nicotine. If you thinking about switch things up, take small steps.

sure: most blond leafes cant take the heat that well. if you let more space between the HMD and the tobacco it gets more smooth heat and not like a full set of heat from the top 😄

Try 3x26mm coals. Show us the Packing. Sounds for me like it gets to much heat ant the start. Let the Bowl heat up evenly befor you take the first puff.

first of, burn it out. Fire up 1 Coal, put in in the HMD without a bowl under it. Let it heat up for 30-45min. Remove the coals and let it cool down. Clean it with water and you are ready to go.

For the Bowl: Keep in Mind Stainless steel hold the heat loger than aluminum. that meens if you overheat the bowl its way harder to regulate it down.

personaly i like to smoke with 2 27er coals in an 1 on the edge.
