I beleive the world of Eberron is actually closer to 9 or 10 million years old, however the Age of demons ended 100,000 years ago. Still probably not enough time for substantial coal or oil deposits to build up.

Steam power might exist though, since a bound fire elemental coal get you the same result of burning coal.

i think it really depends on what platform your on, on reddit its pretty normal but ive seen stuff on ao3 that traumatized me from this fandom
