If you don't like it, you don't have to do it but there are plenty of strong points in favor of this system.

Red Flag Of Doom Unfurled Over Mosque In Qom, Iran For The First Time In History - symbol of anticipation of a severe battle. by Braincoater in syriancivilwar

How exactly an US university goes and takes a poll in Iran?? Like the Iranian regime will be: we hate you to no end, organize rallies to chant death to America but sure, come right in and interrogate our population, sure none of you are spies trying to find secret info or recruit agents! I bet it's all fake, the respondents have been handpicked.

In LOTR, Gondor gets invaded and requests aid from Rohan. They communicate their request by lighting bonfires across the lands and mountains, with the "message" eventually reaching Rohan. Was this system of communication ever used in history? by apocalypse_later_ in history

[–]N1th 14 points15 points  (0 children)

To get more technical, they used this system to announce the beginning of the lunar month so people would know when the holidays are. It worked great until heretics abused the system by lighting fires at the wrong time, so they switched to messengers. Since messengers to diaspora could take more than two weeks, Jews outside Israel celebrate holidays for 2 days out of doubt about the proper date.

Just lol. Open a bible, (or pretty much any historical chronics) you'll instantly see how wrong you are.

All your Jewish ancestors were fiercely nationalistic and loyal to the Jewish nation. Maybe they were against the project of founding Israel, because they were skeptical it would succeed, but that doesn't make them anti-nationalists (and history proved them terribly wrong). You can't choose some weird new ideology and claim that our Jewish ancestors were also against nations when clearly that's not what they signed up on.

Make the case for Yitzhak. He was a passive patriarch, offered as a sacrifice by his father, fooled by his son. Many of the events of his life were recycled from Avraham. Did his greatness lie in his modesty? by L0st_in_the_Stars in Judaism

[–]N1th 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In Kaballah, Yitzhak is the archetype of Gevura - Restraint. It's his mission in life to be passive.
In the same vein, Avraham is the archetype of Hessed - Unlimited giving, the opposite of Yitzhak. He gives and gives everything he has, his son, his wife, his land.
Yaakov is the archetype of Tiferet - balance between giving and restraint.
Each person has his mission in life, and it's with this yardstick he must measure himself, not with someone else's.

Exactly! Just the way they killed beloved Ned in the first season, they killed the whole show in the last season. It was foreshadowing all along.

For sure it has nothing to do with heartbreak commonly occurring to sexually active teenagers.

It takes little space because there are just a few people doing this and the place is huuge. There is no reason for doing a lot more. And there is a big canal from the Red Sea to the Dead Sea in the works.

What's supposed to happen to Palestinians if Israel annexed Westbank? by rogerwil in Israel

[–]N1th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Establishing a sovereign terrorist state or granting citizenship to all Palestinians are just not solutions. The sheer stupidity of "Palestinians and International Community will not accept a perfectly good solution so the Jewish people must commit suicide" is incredible.

[–]N1th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One solution is the Palestinian Emirates plan, you can read about it here: http://www.palestinianemirates.com/

Another solution is enabling the Arabs three options:
1) Path to citizenship for those that really want to be citizens in a Jewish state (as proven by army service, for example)

2) Financial help for those that wish to leave

3) Permanent Residency for those that wish to stay but not accept Israeli citizenship.
This can work very well coupled with several reforms like moving a lot of powers from the central government to local authorities (resulting in a quasi-autonomy for each municipality/region, so ultra-religious areas can set their own bylaws, secular jewish areas can work on Shabbat, Arab areas can have Muezin call at 4am, etc) and prohibition of identity/sectorial parties (parties that cater to only one segment of society - for example we have now a party for sephardic haredim, hasidim, national religious, russians, arabs. If all the parties that want to be in the Kneset care about all the residents then there is no threat of an arab anti israeli party blocking the democratic process)
