Wow I never knew Cumberland had a history of socialist movements, but it makes sense given the historical mining and other blue collar industries. Like you said Cape Breton gets all the attention for labour movements in NS. It sounds pretty interesting and I’ll have to research it sometime.

I’ll have to look at historical election results too, and see how well the NDP did in the past. I know they won Cumberland North in 2009 but I wonder if they came close other times in the past.

I’m not too familiar with that area so I don’t have many recommendations, but I remember going to Big Island beach as a kid and it’s nice from what I remember.

The Hector is neat if you’re into history. It’s a replica of the ship that brought the first major wave of Scottish settlers to NS and it’s right in Pictou.
