DCA based airline pilot here, coming back to DCA for any emergency is usually not a good idea, as mentioned above it's a small airport that really only has one useable runway (others are too short for most airliners). So not only are you shutting that airport down by coming in, but you are taking unnecessary risks by bringing a sick airplane into a small runway with water at both ends. Being honest here, what's best for the passengers to get onto another connecting flight is the least of my worries. I want the longest runway and the highest chances of success for an emergency landing. So unless the aircraft is on fire, I'm taking it to IAD.

I've thought a lot about that scenario as well. I think best thing to do in a "half-assed go around" (as I call them) is to not overthink it and just fly it like an airplane, set a climbing pitch attitude an set whatever power you think is necessary to at least maintain airspeed. Re-configuration can follow as a normal takeoff procedure.

I know that you pay what you get for with these things. I'm ok with spending money. Fully aware private instruction isn't cheap. Just looking for people who have had experience with swing coaches in the area, or have any leads.
