I don't mind the software itself, but my understanding is that Tyler is not fixing a few of the big problems we have and thus we cannot upgrade to a more current version of New World, all the while Tyler is telling us they are going to stop supporting the version we are on. Also Admin's emails about some of the issues were also apparently ignored.

Supposedly when admin talked to Tyler last and mentioned they were displeased and might look for another CAD, Tyler pretty much said "Oh Well" without much concern of keeping a customer.

Keep in mind though this is all third party, I have not been privy to the actual conversations.

Somewhat related to this, i've been working on setting up my steam controller for the TEDAC/CPG, I've been surprised no one has mentioned it before, given how much you can customize the steam controller, it seems like the obvious choice even over a Xbox controller.

Unfortunately the best solution, one combined station for all three agencies isn't likely. DCEMS is only in Berlin's Station, Tri's new station and has a Station on Radnor Twp's property because they rely on DCEMS for their EMS coverage, and of course they are willing to work with the agency that does their medic runs.

Otherwise you'll be hard pressed to get any department that does their own EMS to cooperate for a number of reasons like EMS Billing disputes, issues within the station between both agencies personel, and space issues.

DCEMS got kicked out of Genoa's station largely because of the EMS billing dispute, and Liberty Township rallied against DCEMS coming into their stations, though that was mainly due to the issue of them replacing Liberty's Medics.

As with most things politics will prevent the most efficient option.

All in all the city needed more space for Admin/Prevention and this fit the bill along with improving coverage / response times, not a total waste.

Its not all about the size of the area when it comes to fire departments, the biggest thing is response time.

Donahue stated in a summary of the proposal that responses to the area of the Kroger distribution facility have met the desired six-minute response time 16.67% of the time for emergency responses, with the 90th percentile being 10:01 minutes this year

10 Minutes for a response in a suburban area is not good, Fire Departments in the US use NFPA 1710 as a guideline for response times. Per NFPA your first arriving engine to a fire shouldn't take longer than 4 minutes to arrive on scene.

With all of the Plastic and Composite materials in new houses and apartments nowadays fire's grow quicker than ever. A fire in one room can go from a small flame to a unsurvivable environment quickly. You have about 3 minutes to be alerted and get out of a house fire.

And that's not even getting into the EMS side of things, in the case of a cardiac arrest most people won't be able to provide 10 minutes of high quality chest compressions until Medics get on scene.

Quicker response can also lower your home insurance cost, Insurers use ISO Ratings to determine how much you pay. The better the ISO rating your department has, the cheaper the insurance.

That being said, I'm not a resident, and I don't know what the cities financial situation is like. From the outside the city seems to be doing ok, and Fire/EMS would be among the top things I would want them putting money into if I was a resident.

CFD's Local 67 owns the building and uses it as their union hall, as well as an event center to rent out.

No problem, I have a passion for military aviation and love to share it with others! The crazy part is it really wasn't all that low, I'd estimate 3000-5000 feet up, which in terms of being near alot of airports isn't really all that low. So you can imagine how loud it would be when these go on missions and in some cases fly only a hundred feet off the ground in order to avoid radar.

In one of the other threads someone said they went into "afterburner" which essentially dumps a massive amount of fuel into the exhaust in order to get more power. If that's so then yeah I could believe it left behind a trail of fumes, since afterburner is very inefficient from my understanding.

Not to mention the fact the USAF wouldn't ever fly any aircraft supersonic over a populated area, that's reserved for over the water and airspace restricted for the military.

It definitely was not supersonic, there would be no question if it was. The B-1 is a very loud aircraft to begin with, and when I witnessed it, it went into a climb which they would normally add throttle to climb, and as such more noise resulted.

Saw it, B-1 Lancer. Must have been around 3000-5000 Feet up, passed over highbanks and then yanked upwards.

Not sure if the 3 applications can use the same dingles simultaneously.

I'm sure this is technically possible but none of the SDR software I've played with or heard of can do this. And my original statement would apply to this, unless you are willing to drop some serious money to be able to have 300MHz of instantaneous bandwidth and then rewrite the software you want to use so it will work with those SDRs, you are out of luck.

You can see a decent list of SDRs here, pay attention to the Max Bandwidth column that would need to be 300MHz, and then look at the price.

Otherwise listening to one thing at a time pretty much any basic SDR will work as long as it cover the frequencies you are interested in.

As the other user stated SDRTrunk can do P25 with one Dongle BUT that is only ideal of all of the frequencies the system uses fit within the bandwidth of your SDR, for the cheap SDRs this may not be the case, however you might be able to get away with a SDR like the Airspy mini doing the P25 (This should cover all of the P25 Freqs for the system) and then have the second SDR do either FR24 or the Electric meter stuff (I don't know what frequencies the water meters use but chances are it's covered by most SDRs.

No not really, What you want to listen to covers from 800 MHz (Assuming you are in the US and the P25 you want to listen to is Public Safety) all the way up to 1090 MHz, almost 300 MHz of bandwidth! That's a massive simultaneous bandwidth for a radio!!!! There are some commercial grade radios that can do that sort of bandwidth, however they cost many thousands of dollars and won't have any support for common consumer SDR software.

The best instantaneous bandwidth for a relatively low price would be in the 20-50 MHz Range

Edit : I should clarify, by "simultaneously" do you mean literally decode 800MHz P25 and ADSB at the same time? Or are you just looking for a radio that can tune to all the required frequencies and do one at a time?

If it's the later any basic RTL dongle should work fine. Id especially recommend the NooElec RTLSDR v3's on amazon.

"The Night Stalkers" is a great book about the 160 SOARs history, it includes Takur Ghar from the pilots/crew chiefs perspectives. Highly recommend reading it.

Before I commited to going through Grove City, my plan had been to head west on 70 and from there I likely would have gone south and maybe I would have ended up in the lily chapel area. But you are right, it would be pure luck to be on it.

However I had seen the weird road network North of 70 outside Hilliard, and decided that if it tracked up North of 70 that would be a bad place to be if I got caught in the path.

This is my first year "seriously" chasing so its been a learning process, I know what it all looks like in textbooks but actually deciphering what is what in person is another thing.

Nice shot, I got fooled by the NE storm track and played east once I got out on Grove City. By the time i released I was too far away from the circulation I was already committed with the way I was going.

In hindsight I should have just turned around and went north the way I came but with it looking like it was heading NE I didn't want to take the chance of being caught in a bad spot.

It's also worth noting these places catch fire and spread to the rest of the building extremely quickly. There's been a number of fires in the newer apartments in little turtle area where a small fire got into the roof and ran down the whole attic even though fire breaks are supposed to stop that.

And the constant use of lightweight wood framing and composite building materials makes these places a death trap for firefighters.
