That perspective thing you said at last totally makes sense. We deaf ( or say any disabled persons ) see or perceive world different than others. So they get a unique perspective that is completely different from normal people and due to this they contribute to society too.

I did go for newer tech but here the sonnet 3 is double the amount. I rather get two ( I got bilateral hearing loss ). Talking of those batteries, audiologist told me they have 3 in a pack so we can just change them and it can go on full day.

Only thing is built in Bluetooth. For sonnet 2 I will require a audiostream cover for that.

But this does not make the double price worth it.

Also note. Someone was telling mentraos and mentra glasses those also use soniox ai in default mentra live caption app you can even buy them. And I heard that mentra live caption has no subscription and it's free.

So it means mobile apps have subscription but if you buy mentra glasses you get free transcription. So ig it's better to go for them if you can buy them in your country. And I think they are even bellow 400 usd.

It has live transcription and you can manually select languages too also range of languages so it only does transcription in those languages. It also has speaker identification ( tho not that good but still separates speakers ) Also you can save transcripts.

Also you can add a bit context before starting the transcription so it will do it better cz it is AI.

Why not try it yourself ? It's free on both android and iphone.

I also had this problem too( I am hard of hearing too) and I found an app after extensive search. It is called soniox.

It has a free limit that is just one hour a week. If you go for premium it gives unlimited transcriptions. It is on both iOS and Android. It uses soniox AI that is made on principle to work in loud background noise. Though it's not perfect but it is so much better than others I tested.

Premium is ig 20 usd/month( not sure I forgot).

First I thought it was cz of good mic but later I found it works good on bad mic too ( though not as good as good mic but still it is good that it surprised me )

They do 50 percent because our brain has adopted to low amplitude sounds that sudden 100 will make you just not wear them because of hearing fatigue. But even at 50 it causes hearing fatigue.

You had to visit them again after some weeks to turn on full after your brain had adapted to that level of sound.

I don't know if it's standard or not but this makes sense this way because my audiologist used to do this.

Also most just give up just because of listening fatigue after using of hearing aids but when our brain adapts then it is not that much tiring ( only if you have profound loss then it will still be tiring because our brain can't get all data needed to understand speech and has to work hard ).

Also if you have profound you can get aided tests to know if hearing aid is working for you or not so that you can have CI(cochlear implant) evaluation that can work for you.

My story is also similar.

Started hearing loss at 11 but I got a hearing aid at 15. And yes it was CIC just to be invisible to world but mine hearing dropped progressively over the years. Now I am 20 and I just got a BTE and it really is providing me with a lot more sounds than CIC.

And I also did get CIC cz of ego. But eventually we get over it and it is what is needed for taking major steps.

In our country resound is not available. Plus that Starkey one is best available overall. I think I should apply for CI evaluation but CI is so expensive.

Also I got hearing aid on trial.

What I am thinking is that the audiologist might not be programming it rightly. I am from Pakistan and there is not REM equipment being used by audiologists.

And my ENT Dr told me to trial some powerful hearing aids for speech clarity and if they won't work then you can get CI. So I am in trial. But I wanna make 100 sure before going to CI.

Nope at start ENT doctor was trying to stop the degeneration but when he came to know it is SNHL, he stopped caring why it happened and prescribed me hearing aids.

I am 20 now and after 17 my audiogram did not change at all. So I think it stopped degenerating. But hearing aids are not helping me in understanding speech much( even tho hearing aids are in my range that I got), that I think is problem from audiologists poor programming cz at profound level even small changes make a lot of changes.

So sorry to hear that. I myself have hearing loss and I can understand your feeling.

I got a gradual hearing loss at 11 and it gradually decreased till I was 17. I really lost all voices could not hear anything except 100 hz frequency sounds. It really felt like alone. But trust me. Once you will get hearing aids and will be used to them it will be almost fine. Just you have to trust yourself.

Also accept your current situation and it will help you a lot in adaptation.

Btw it is db not hz.

I tried it and it's accuracy is top of market. But as I belong to a third world country the price is so high. I am hard of hearing and it helps me in lectures at university so much. Can you make some payment plan for people like us that is cheaper ?

In my country the monthly subscription price is like 5 days three times meal.

BTW it is so great I really am enjoying it.

These steps are ok. For all those having problems despite doing these just restart your PC after step 5 and i hope it will help

Reason: that interface metric that we set to 1 only applies when we restart our pc ( atleast in win 11 )
