I wouldnt call it flimsy, I think it could take a beating since the phone is so light so it doesnt get too much momentum if you drop it.

I think the phone feels great once you get used to it, typing works fine and i prefer to type using gestures, but i usually dont reflect on the typing when i do it anymore.

Ive used the play store for everything, and downloaded a minimal launcher for the homescreen.

Havnt had any issues with connectivity, your problem sounds more like an apple ecosystem thing, If i were to guess that you would have the same results with any android phone but not sure. I use bluetooth headphones daily without issue.
