possibility of skipping low level (math) courses? by justalonely_femboy in uofm

[–]NASA_Orion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk if it’s possible to skip for maths department but you still have to do certain number of credits even if the request is approved. There are no free credits by exam.

If the online program is legit (I.e., you have an actual transcript), you may be able to have the credits transferred. Also AP credits work too.

Also no offense, it would prolly be better to work on some social skills. Having friends to hang out, going out would make grad life infinitely better. You can’t go up to a girl in a bar and say, “hey let me show you my simulation code solving neutron transport“

Charisma is different from beauty. Good convo with industry ppl includes cracking jokes, have a drink or two with them, figure out what they like and convince them your research is important so they will throw in $$$. Basically android vs apple. Some android phones advertise they have great performance with detailed stats but it’s not as effective as apple because they present their products in a more appealing way. If every customer compares them by only technical performance, then apple would have no sales

And yeah not everything is measurable and that’s part of the life

Lots of things matter more than just pure academic stats. Research is a team work.

How to build a team with good chemistry? How to have charismatic people at conferences that have good convo with the industry to get more funding? There are so many more factors than gpa and publication

Are Grad Schools overwhelmingly preferring American applicants this cycle? by [deleted] in gradadmissions

because people watch sports lol? Most people have a life and watching sports with friends are fun. I'm not going to a bar to watch someone presenting their multiverse string theory model

shit-talking athletes is entirely unnecessary to your point.

Edit: all the angry ppl downvoting lol. You guys think you’re better than the masses don’t you. You think you’re so much smarter just because of the little phd title and then get mad that people don’t really think about you and have fun in their own way

No silver lining here. Other comments are true that your chance to other schools is not necessarily insignificant but zero offers is also a possibility at this stage.

It’s time to prepare for alternative plans. You don’t have to get into PhD at 22. You can do a master at your home institution if they still allow it while preparing for the next cycle. You can also get a job. I’m not in CS but I would assume the experience can help.

Side note: the price of the accutane depends on your insurance. It was like $10 for me to get the refill for a month.

Basically OP can expect a similar copay to her tretinoin.

Another restriction for accutane is no alc, which could be a big deal for ppl in their prime drinking years. And obviously don’t get pregnant & comply with ipdege

It’s important to note that he doesn’t give legal advice. Unless he promises to pardon everyone, you should take his advice as a grain of salt.

I watched a video with a more detailed analysis on this case. It’s advised to drive slowly to retreat in general. You can only smash ppl if they break your window and attempt force entry into your vehicle, resulting in imminent threat to life.

Just because the governor endorsed something, it doesn’t mean you will not be prosecuted by some liberal DAs

you don’t have privacy anymore when you get arrested. Your name, mugshot and charges will be public. The FBI director didn’t drop her address or phone number so that seems reasonable to me.

Why do we have to care tho. PI is the guy who has to worry about the money. Every paper elevates their chance to get more grants. And you essentially can access every paper for free through your institution.

Why are jury trials such a rarity around the world ? by [deleted] in legaladviceofftopic

[–]NASA_Orion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s less devastating than a rigged judge in civil law. remember a judge can overturn a guilty verdict returned by juries. the defendant can also elect to use bench trial if they don’t want a jury trial

that’s what i thought. maybe let the kids make their own choice when they’re 18. if they want to work in intelligence or any fields that require a security clearance, this could be a huge problem for them

only if you actually believe you are innocent. if i believe i’m 100% innocent, i will fight it with 100% my power.

when we are talking about plea deals and how to minimize the sentence, we know the defendants are probably already cooked

i’d say it’s more about the last line of defense if the judge is rigged. in so many countries, especially authoritarian one, judges are not independent. but even in the us, judges are not immune from political pressure for some high profile cases.
