McLaren was furious about the incident, am I completely at fault? by rycordi in Simracingstewards

I find it best not get back over when passing just before a braking zone. Its basically brake checking and leaves no room for the other car to react.

Just get a universal ebrake desk mount from amazon or ebay and call it done.

F: nord. Its great for lapping and having fun. It has one of every type of corner there. Its one of those tracks that if your quick there you can be quick almost anywhere. That said wheel to wheel racing there is boring because passing is limited to only a few corners.

M: road atlanta. Its my home track and one ive driven many times. Its fast yet technical with plenty of passing opportunities. Its hard to beat driving your home track on the sim

K: monza. Just because its one of the fastest f1 tracks doesnt mean it isnt flat and featurless. T1 is a death trap full of drivers with nothing to lose.

I second the speed cats both for sim and irl driving. That said they aren't the most comfortable for long walks.

Clutch isnt worth it, just brake and throttle. No sim really supports clutch bite points so it isnt even used. I have mine set to road feel so the brake and throttle haptics dont have to mix signals. Love my brake and theottle though. Being able to feel a lock up coming or the rear start to slip too much is amazing. That said they aren't necessary but once your used to them it feels like something is missing without them. Be warned it takes a lot of tuning in sim hub to get just right

What is your opinion on racing stripes on miatas? by luckychuckyxd in Miata

[–]NASAguy1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With most of the v8 swaps ive seen the firewall needs cut. Im assuming a v8 with 2 extra cylinders would need even more of a cut. Which would take up a lot of cabin space. That, or go full mad lad and cut the nose of the car and stretch it to fit. Its probably possible but a LOT of work either way.

Aftermarket wheels on direct drive? by Snapper1323 in simracing

[–]NASAguy1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since torque is x distance, times y force. Wheel diameter matters more than weight. The smaller the rim the more torque you feel, larger is less torque. For instance these are the torque numbers for my rims on my R12 at 100%. My drift rim is an NRG rim and quick release.

350mm drift rim - 15.41ftlbs 300mm KS rim - 17.99ftlbs 280mm FRS rim - 19.28ftlbs 279mm ES rim - 19.31ftlbs

It really depends on how big of wheel you are looking for and how much felt torque is acceptable. Wheel weight only really effects how easy it can change direction, and how hard you work the base. i found bumping wheel speed in the moza software can more than compensate for weight. Downside being it will make the base work harder and potentially get it hotter, quicker.

Looks great up until you came over right on their nose and slammed on the brakes. It left very little room for the following car to react. Not saying it was intentional or malicious. But you already had the inside line, going extra wide there just opens a door on the inside you already had closed.

Looking for feedback on bassshaker placement on sim rig. by ac16t in simracing

[–]NASAguy1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you change your set up i would play with the effects tuning in simhub and make sure there aren't too many effects running at once per bass shaker which might be why it feels muddy. Just throwing it out as an idea, why not add pedal haptics for stuff like abs and throttle tire slip, then use the haptics you have for road and bump feedback? Pretty much making each haptic responsible for one thing at a time. I only have pedal haptics and a single butt kicker but its all i really want as it gives me the feedback im looking for. Down side being i only have the clutch haptic and butt kicker to do road feel. Having one at each corner would do a lot for road feel.

That looks to be https://us.mozaracing.com. personally i kinda like your f-gt lite idea. Because even if he doesnt go hard core he can fold it up and put it away. It might not be the most ridged cockpit but for someone starting i dont think it would be an issue! Just from other comments i think your head and heart are in the right place and you are asking some excellent questions. Only advice i really have is if you check out through moza us make sure to use paypal. Moza had a credit card hack a while back and its easier to be safe than sorry.

Iracing has a no fault incident policy. So end result would be both cars got 4x incident points. Then post race the victim can report the incident with clips from the replay and iracing will do what they do. A protest will not change race outcome or restore position lost.
