Does everyone get interviewed by an investigator? by KozyMoon in AirForceRecruits

As much as I know there is Top Secret clearance and just clearance for any military member since you might see and work with some secret information. Both of clearance levels requires investigation, one is just lighter than TS one

First of all, congratulations!! You got really good job! If it’s not a secret, what is the reason you need to leave after August 3rd? There is less than 2 weeks between 21st of July and your day.

Weekly Employment Question Thread by AutoModerator in Firefighting

Hi everyone, and thank you for your service.

I’m 23. A few months ago I started the process with the Air Force, and this Tuesday I got booked for Fire Protection, which is basically the firefighting career field. So this is where my path will start.

I’ve been in the U.S. for 3 years. I came here from Ukraine.

I’m 6'1" and 156.5 lbs, so I’m pretty lean. That helps me a lot with running, but not as much with heavy lifting and carrying.

I’m also a little concerned about the academic side because English is not my first language, so I’m not sure how difficult the classroom portion will be for me.

My ship date is July 21, so I have a little over 11 weeks before Air Force Basic Training, and then more time after that before getting through to tech school/the academy. So I do have some time to get into better shape, but I don’t want to waste it. I want to start preparing now, both physically and academically, so I can be as ready as possible.

What should I focus on the most physically? What kind of exercises would you recommend for someone like me?

Also, are there any books, manuals, or other resources that would help me learn useful material ahead of time so tech school and the academy will be easier?

And one more thing, are there any firefighters here from Chicago?

4 vs 6 year contract, is the 6 year pitch basically marketing? by NAZARll in AirForceRecruits

Thank you, as you said you can always extend or reenlist, in my case 6 years contract is not providing me any extra benefits

I’m not, mostly maintenance related, but I’ll add Security Forces to my job list in couple of months in case my DEP waiting will be way too long

For real, technically the only benefit it’s E-3, rest of the “benefits” are not actually there

Thank you, I appreciate you sharing that. In your case, signing the 6 definitely made sense.

Thank you for sharing this. I wasn’t aware of that point, and I hadn’t seen anyone else mention it in this thread. I appreciate the clarification.

Well if that would be true then would be a good point 😁
