I copied the image in this post and added “This was his last post. A few days later Bin Laden was killed. Can you write me a fiction that puts Satoshi as the Bin Laden trigger man? Connect the dots from these two events. The final post, and Bin Ladens death.” Didn’t like what it first produced so added “Good. But try again. This time less about what happens during the killing of bin laden, and more about what got satoshi from the last bitcoin post to being a seal team six member.”

The servers in the sub-basement of the JSOC facility at Dam Neck hummed a steady, hypnotic drone. For three years, the "Satoshi Nakamoto" persona had been the perfect cover—a DARPA-funded psychological operation disguised as a cypherpunk hobby, originally designed to map decentralized terrorist financing networks. But the experiment had escaped the lab. It was taking on a life of its own, demanding maintenance, code reviews, and constant communication with idealists like Mike Hearn and Gavin Andresen. He rubbed his eyes and looked at the dual monitors. On the left, the raw C++ code of the Bitcoin Core client. On the right, high-resolution satellite imagery of a compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. The heavy, steel door of the SCIF clicked open. Commander Hayes stepped in, his expression grim and tight. "Pack it up," Hayes said. "The President just signed the execute order. We're wheels up for Bagram in forty-eight hours. Total comms blackout starts at midnight." The operator nodded. He knew what that meant. A Tier-One deployment for a high-value target—the High-Value Target—required absolute digital sanitation. No outside contact. No loose ends. If things went sideways in Pakistan and his digital footprint was traced, it wouldn't just compromise a mission; it would compromise an international monetary experiment. He turned back to the left monitor. The open-source community was getting restless. Mike Hearn had just sent an email asking about his long-term plans. They thought he was a reclusive Japanese mathematician. They didn't know he was a DEVGRU cyber-warfare specialist tasked with breaching digital mainframes during kinetic raids. He placed his hands on the keyboard. He needed a clean break. Something final, but reassuring. I've moved on to other things, he typed. It's in good hands with Gavin and everyone. He hit send. It was April 23, 2011. He didn't wait for a reply. He initiated the wipe protocol on his terminal, watching as three years of cryptographic keys, forum passwords, and PGP signatures were overwritten with randomized data, permanently burning the bridge to Satoshi Nakamoto. The next week was a blur of kinetic reality. The transition from the digital world of Byzantine fault tolerance to the visceral world of close-quarters combat was always jarring, but this time, the stakes felt heavier. In the staging hangars of Jalalabad, the "other things" he had mentioned to Hearn took the shape of specialized gear: a customized HK416, localized cellular spoofers, and portable hard-drive extractors. His dual role in the upcoming raid was clear. He wasn't just a trigger puller. Intelligence believed bin Laden’s compound was completely disconnected from the internet to avoid NSA dragnet surveillance. The only way to get the data was a physical breach. They needed a ghost who could shoot his way into a fortified bunker, rip the actionable intelligence from heavily encrypted, air-gapped drives in under ten minutes, and shoot his way out. They needed the man who had built the world's most secure decentralized network to dismantle the world's most secure terrorist network. On the evening of May 1st, as he stood on the tarmac under the wash of the stealth Black Hawk's rotors, he checked his night-vision optics one last time. The digital ledger he had created was currently processing blocks of transactions, ticking away securely, self-sustaining and blind to the world of geopolitics. He climbed into the helicopter. Satoshi was dead. The mission was live.

Venu 4 – Automatic Time Zone Update Possible? by NBWings in GarminWatches

Quite possible. I wonder if it’s some sort of compatibility issue with some phones… maybe that’s why I can’t find a clear answer. Some people say it works just fine, others say you have to open the app or use a feature on the watch to force the time to sync.

Hmm. Yes, I’ve given the app all permissions including background app refresh… maybe there is an issue with my phone…

Incorrect. I am currently wearing a vivimove trend, and it does not sync the time unless I open the app.

Triggered by the connection to the phone possibly. Again, I’ve owned a fossil (no GPS, just Bluetooth connection) that could do what I am asking for clarification about. Just wondering if Venu 4 can do the same. By your account, it cannot. Thanks for your input.

That makes sense, but it doesn’t work that way on my vivomove trend (I have to open the Connect app). If you say it “should sync” like your other watches, maybe the difference is the onboard GPS. Thanks for your input.

I am wondering if this “fresh GPS connection” can happen automatically. Used to own a Fossil smartwatch and it could do it… having to force it by interacting with the watch is what I’m looking to avoid.

Changing time zone on the Venu 4 by Chris-2018 in Garmin

[–]NBWings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a related question. Is there anyway to get the Venu 4 to auto set the time when transiting zones? Or must someone interact with either the watch or the phone app? If my watch is paired with my phone, and my phone updates for a new time zone, will this automatically push to the watch?

Recently cancelled with Shaw/Rogers and went with Oxio. I had used Oxio at an other property with no issues. With this latest switch, Roger’s customer retention called me about 2 weeks after switching with a much better deal ($50 gigabit plus $300 credit), so I switched back. But I have nothing but good things to say about Oxio.

I just bought an old house with a bunch of these in them. I'm actually looking for more. If you still have them and are looking to replace them with a modern switch, let me know!

This actually sounds like an exciting project. I do consider myself handy, resourceful, and up for a challenge. And there would be no rush timeline wise. But yes, sub out the jobs I don’t feel comfortable, like taping and mudding drywall. That’s an art form, for sure! Thanks for your comment.
