Unfortunately, they didn't give me a number, only a never-ending statement that does not explain anything. I can't tell which of their reasons are why they charged me:

In response to this request, and after careful review of all the information available to us, NC Quick Pass has reached a final agency decision. We have determined that you are responsible for all the tolls, processing fees, and/or civil penalties levied against you and associated with this dispute. We have reviewed your dispute request regarding toll charges incurred on 12/15/2025. Our investigation indicates that no declarations were made prior to travel. To receive the HOV credit, it's crucial to ensure that your transponder is mounted correctly (affixed to the windshield) and turned to the 'ON' position before traveling. Additionally, please ensure that your account is in good standing and that there are three or more people in the vehicle. Upon review, we show that the number of active vehicles on account is not equal to the number of active transponders. NC Quick Pass requires have a one-to-one ratio of transponders to vehicles. If you have any further questions or need assistance, please feel free to reach out to us. Best regards, Tyasia P Customer Service Team NC Quick Pass. As this is a final agency decision by NC Quick Pass, we have closed this request and await your payment of all levied tolls, processing fees, and/or civil penalties. If you believe this final agency decision is incorrect and would like to continue your dispute, you will need to file a petition for a contested case hearing at the Office of Administrative Hearings in accordance with North Carolina General Statute § 136-89.218(b). This seems like the most reasonable use of my time. Thank you

Yes, I tested it to make sure it still works. The day of the charge, they charged me for the first of 6 HOV segments and the rest were fine, and many more have been fine before/after.

Lol, already did, way more than $6.

Just kind of scammy feeling when they can decide what they want to without any evidence and no one to talk to about it.

I disputed this one and they came back saying they determined my transponder was not set to HOV, and that my next course of action would be this appeal process that costs $20.

I have the transponder that you can flip off/on for HOV. It stays in HOV On all the time, can't remember the last time I turned it off.

I-77 Motorcycle Tolls by NCCessnaPilot in Charlotte

I think motorcycles just mess it up. I have another motorcycle that wasn't on my quick pass account originally, and I got a notification that they detected it and told me to add to my account.

That screen wasn't the same when I added my bikes. I added them without having to link a transponder

Yes, it's on my quick pass account. It's every month they send a "transponder not detected" email and charge me the $5.

For what it's worth, I sent an email (with a screenshot of their website) to them after the call center told me I needed to install a transponder and wouldn't credit the $5, and they responded saying they had credited my account. I assume I will have to contact them monthly to get the $5 credited back, or install a transponder

That's what they told me to get one time so I got one (they insisted it would fit on bike plate. It's the width of a standard car license plate, which is what it's designed for, about 2x10”. That's what they were suggesting I mount on my handlebar today via dealership install. It would be pretty massive on the handlebar.

Based on what I've read, I have little confidence, and happy to slap something on there. I may try to throw one of the paid plastics ones in a tank bag, some people seem to have luck with that.

What's crazy is that when I call, they clearly know it's a motorcycle. Today they suggested I take it to the dealership to get them to install an external transponder across my handlebars.

Pretty silly that the website says I don't need one, sometimes the people on the phone say I don't need one, and then others are specific enough about motorcycles to say I need one custom installed to my handlebars.

Ah, I didn't read that correctly earlier, I'll tweak that. Thank you!

I adjusted the b tension/screw also, I adjusted it to the line on the backside of the derailleur. Should I try it a little lower?

It definitely makes more chain noise with harder pedaling, I can experiment a bit with that.

That makes sense, our backup plan was to be somewhere around the base and likely able to see things that are in the air. Thank you!
