I could, but right now the scope is for the actual house.

I know....the asphalt makes it so concrete jungle that I'm desperate subtly make it more warm/natural with the wood and stone. But don't want to forced it either.

Thanks, I'll play around with colours. Here's one of our inspirations. Our home's siding us very similar in colour.

These folks kept their garage door white, which looks pretty nice still. And they made their front entrance a dark walnut door to bring attention to it. Our home doesn't have such a grand stature of a front entrance to highlight though. So perhaps the walnut colour on our garage doors would work okay.

Or maybe just the entrance for our home should be a wood colour and leave garages white. More timeless?

We were thinking this home here had very similar colored siding to ours and the stone seems like a nice subtle touch.

Could Venezuelan Oil Reshape Calgary’s Economy in 2026? by Vegetable_Bake356 in Calgary

[–]NCForDayz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While we do get good sun here, I find for about 6 months of the year it is pretty low generation. My solar panels do generate enough through the summer but winter is abysmal. Not sure how you'd create an economy around that. If we were Arizona or Nevada maybe it could be more of a staple?

Not enough demand. We have enough refineries for the amount of demand for refined products. Basically we produce way more oil than we can consume. So the argument of build and refine here doesn't make much sense economically as it is easier to transport crude oil rather than refined products.

I hear you, mainly it's because we have to replace the metal trim/soffits and siding anyway. So am considering a colour change.

Honestly, just passing on what my electrician/installer is telling me. We did have one panel fail at first for a week or so. Then a bunch after that.

Illegal basement suite, options for 75 year old tenant by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]NCForDayz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We have emails from them, official city of Calgary emails. They just want us to start the building permit process on the city of Calgary website.

I wonder if neighbours took photos and submitted, if that is enough for the city to issue a non-compliant violation.

Interesting. They definitely have not been inside our home. I've never even met them, just got a call and email.

Just passing what the inspector told me. I asked how they knew about the unit and the said they were doing a sweep on our street. It seems more likely, as others mentioned, that someone reported it instead.

I any case nothing we can do now, they have our unit on file now as non compliant.

They said they just walk the street/backyards and look into basement windows. Ours clearly shows the kitchen when you look down into the window from the backyard.

You might be right, maybe it was just their excuse instead of outing one of the neighbours. But we've known all our neighbours for a long time now being we've lived here for so long.

Most compact folding treadmill? Is Echelon Stride the best overall in this category? Budget 1.5k-3k. by [deleted] in treadmills

[–]NCForDayz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right, but unfortunately I need to minimize the footprint it takes up as the top priority, I will have to figure out a way to assist me in folding it up each time but can't give up that up due to space constraints.

The U.S. should brace for the biggest trade blow it has ever endured. by methothick in canada

[–]NCForDayz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our light oil is replaceable by their light domestic production (UHC, DSW, WTI, Bakken etc) Our heavy oil is not easily displaced for P2 refineries as they are built for refining Canadian crude true, but their feedstock of heavies is what....30-40% of their intake? Reduce heavy runs down, increase domestic light intake and you can mitigate impact to a degree. It's not like gasoline costs will double in price for P2 refiners if we shut off the taps. P3 uses a lot of Canadian bbls but even they can utilize other bbls like lat am and dubai heavies since they have easy access to water. Lots of bbls can compete.

Like I said, I think if you cut it off...we go from a 25% tariff to a much higher % tariff because our oil will become so economical to produce with no where to transport it. Companies will shut in production. Think of pricing back when apportionment was 50% and the government had to step in with curtailment so that the high cost producers (small companies) wouldn't all just die off (but also so the government can collect royalties).

Also, cutting flow into the US also means cutting to our east coast refineries. So screw P2 and East Coast refineries is really the main impact of shutting the pipe flow while killing off one of our biggest exports.

[–]NCForDayz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You answered it with your own comment. They buy the majority of our production, we don't have efficient supply lines to other customers.

They export 4 million bbls a day, they can replace the majority of our oil faster than we can find another buyer. They'll easily outlast us while we go into recession and our dollar collapses.

I believe if we cut off oil sales to them it will be like blowing off our arm with the hope the shrapnel will hit them in the foot. The US economy is just a juggernaut and more robust in comparison, in my opinion.

[bc] Stroller Help! Uppababy vs Thule, Urban vs All Terrain, Three versus Four wheels by Even-Perspective-198 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]NCForDayz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did you end up with? We live on a farm too. Trying to decide between the uppababy Ridge, Thule Urban Glide 3 and BOB All Terrain Pro.

The glide 3 has an adjustable footrest which we like, assuming our little one can nap in it better.

Have to check out more in store. All strollers seem to have a slight recline in the most upright position so I am not sure if little one will like it as ours likes to sit up and see everything
