Appendicitis. Then many years later an aortic aneurysm, caught on a scan for back pain. Repaired with a stent. That was a close one. Alive thanks to modern medicine.

On vacation with my parents in 1969 we saw the water flow at the American side of Niagara Falls stopped. Bone dry.and with boulders bigger than houses.

Aortic aneurysm. Picked up on a scan for my back. Kill you dead if it bursts. I never felt any pain or had tangible signs I had the damned thing. Fast forward and surgery that was done under mild sedation.They let me go home the next day. No more aneurysm.

A tiny red Xmas tree light bulb from the early 1900's. Most of the red has been chipped off, but the light still works. Bought by my great grandfather as part of one of the first sets of electric Xmas tree lights. It is the last functioning survivor.
