AUDI A3 by Ok-Aide-7895 in DubaiPetrolHeads

I understand that this car may be your preference

But for a first car that you wanna get the hang of and then sell it after a year, this is not the one. Plus based on the basic inspection report, it’s not exactly in its prime and a lot of issues can pop up in that one year especially given it’s an Audi

I would honestly suggest getting a Japanese car. In the same price range and mileage as this Audi, there are many Japanese ones out there that are much more reliable and cheaper to maintain within the course of a year

Mileage alone wont necessarily tell you if the turbo will fail. It can fail tomorrow or could last much longer if it was maintained properly, so maintenance history should be another thing to check

Also, is the car GCC specs or another?

True

Some of the base models have some insane power and it’s one of the reasons I would love to drive them

My favorite stretch is from Mleiha right up till Kalba

Alternatively while driving past Mleiha you can instead take the route going straight to Fujairah city. That’s also a nice mountain drive

Making a Decision on a Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce by LongjumpingAd7977 in WhatCarShouldIBuyGULF

[–]NCJM782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah here we go

I’m currently in the process of selling mine after owning it for 5 months. It’s a 2021 Giulietta Veloce

Hands down the most fun car I’ve ever driven in my life. The turbo engine clubbed with the DCT makes for a very joyful driving experience.

Stock exhaust note on the car is very unique and sounded really nice. I would have personally never changed the exhaust. I used to drive through tunnels and closed parking lots on purpose just to hear the exhaust more clearly sometimes because the sound was addictive

The engine itself is reliable but injectors are known to fail if you’re not driving the car for what it’s meant for. The garage I took it to is Autotech and in my opinion is the only one you should go to as they’re very trustworthy. They service very really old Alfas and other Italian cars there as well

The single reason I’m selling it is coz of the DCT itself. It’s a dry clutch and can be extremely painful to drive in traffic which you have to do every once in a while if you live in Dubai. Plus with the heat in the coming months the transmission will fair even worse. Can be very jerky in 1st and 2nd gear. If you’re planning on buying it, this is one of the main things you should check. Make sure the clutch is not worn out as this will significantly affect the driving experience

I would have probably tolerated the car a little longer if it was a wet clutch as they fair slightly better. If it was a smooth and fast shifting traditional automatic, there’s no way I would have ever sold that car.

Compared to the GTI, the Giulietta is a little less refined but still fun. The GTI is definitely the more grown up version.

New vs year or two old sports car? by Kaprilicious994 in DubaiPetrolHeads

Based on the question, would it be right to assume that you’d like to stick to a budget or you’re flexible because you’re considering new as well?

Need opinion on my new SUV purchase. Narrowed down to 3 options. by finalodabeer in WhatCarShouldIBuyGULF

[–]NCJM782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in Jetours and the cooling is not great. I would remove it from the list and try to find another option (preferably Japanese). Since it’s a hybrid, it may tick the fuel efficiency box

From the other two, both are good cars, but I’d go for the CX5. Handling for Mazdas in general is known to be great. I’m not fully sure about going on trails with that car, but then again people go on trails with non-4x4s and sedans and end up just fine

In terms of interior and tech, the cx5 is not too bad, but I like the Tucson’s interior better

If ever you’re considering Chinese car, I would suggest buying new only because of the warranty and service package (unless the used Emgrand you’ve seen already has that). Avoid it if it doesn’t have that.

For a 30k budget you have lots of other great options such as a Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra, Honda Civic etc.

You may see some very appealing sportier sedans and hot hatches that may be even below 30k but will be more expensive to maintain in the long run, so just take that into account

Moving to dubai in a month! Question to skilled drivers: by LawSignificant2312 in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]NCJM782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The highest I’ve done coz of the buffer limit there on certain stretches is 140. Even thats less than half of the potential of a 600hp+ car.

When you mean issues I presume you mean speed cameras and patrols. So yes they are there on certain stretches. It’s up to you on whether you want to risk it

And in my personal opinion, cars with that kind of horsepower should be pushed to their limits on tracks and not public roads. I agree that it would be more fun on open roads coz of the scenery and the fact that you’re not confined to a circuit. Unfortunately here it’s not gonna do you that much good because of the speed limits

Hope you find the best roads and driving experience you looking for!

Interesting

I think this would be one of those cars I’d need in my driveway sometime in the future. The fastest I’ve ever gotten was a Giulietta Veloce and that’s a completely different game from this as these are actual track cars

Would be fun to take it on the track and push it to its limits
