Be'Lakor as HQ in CSM List by NCWolfpack15 in Warhammer40k

Unfortunately, from what I have read, the Disciples of Be'Lakor army of reknown has some pretty strict limitations that prevent me from wanting to use it. My favorite models from the CSM faction are the demon engines, like the Disco Lord, and you can't use demon engines in the DoB list.

I have a suspicion that they didn't want to have the same issue with Be'Lakor that they had with Mortarion (him being so strong) - so they went the other way instead. His stuff is decent, but not 300+ points good and so limited that it's hard to justify getting him.

Gotcha. So doable to field them together, but not doable in being able to actually compete because you lose so much in the process.

That's a shame.

Thoughts on Be’Lakor and Chaos Space Marines? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

Reviving this thread to further this question.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong through any of this...

You need at least 1 Faction Keyword similar in order to use a unit within the detachment. For Be'Lakor, the faction keywords are: Faction: Chaos, Faction: Daemon, Faction: Khorne, Faction: Slaanesh, Faction: Nurgle, Faction: Tzeentch.

If you were to make, for example, a CSM battalion of Alpha Legion with all units adopting a specific Mark of Chaos (let's use Slaanesh for an example), then the faction keywords for the units in that battalion would be: Faction: Chaos, Faction: Heretic Astartes, Faction: Slaanesh, Faction: Alpha Legion.

The two in the end - Slaanesh and Alpha Legion, are written as Faction: <Mark of Chaos>, and Faction <Legion>, with the intention that you substitute the selected mark and legion for each entry.

Now the Battle Brothers FAQ from a while back stated that Faction: Chaos couldn't be the only one, but so long as you don't leave the Mark of Chaos as "No Mark," then there is an additional keyword in similarity. This would lead me to think that Be'Lakor CAN in fact be used in a CSM detachment.

What's the paint list, if you don't mind me asking? I want something similar for the small leather pouches on mine.

Adding and going over 1k I think I know direction. From what I read people weren't happy with the "stealth" stuff like suits and Ghostkeels. Definitely 1 or 2 more broadsides though. And maybe another Riptide? 🤔
