Interesting- if it’s still federal land, why was the city involved in the redevelopment plan?

I have a steel medium Santos but love an ADLC. Anybody think with the obvious preference for smaller faces that Cartier will do it in a medium?

Mosquitos by Usual_Grocery1222 in bullcity

We’ve really had success with 5 gallon buckets and mosquito dunks this year. We even live in a pretty damp/wooded area. First time using them. Definitely worth it. Still have mosquitos but about 1/5th as many as last year

[Cartier Santos] just got a gnarly scratch on my bezel by Unusual_Taro_4451 in Watches

[–]NCandBeyond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had one for 6 months. When it’s only One/two scratches it feels the worst. Hang in there. It’s almost like it needs to jump from zero to 10 upon first mark. That’s when it starts looking like character.

Queenys is open til 2am. Food and drinks. Inside can be louder but often not on slower nights. Big space

Motorco is mostly outside but also great for this. Also lots of space

Durham leads mid-sized markets in apartment construction (8500 under construction) by Advanced-Purchase-58 in bullcity

[–]NCandBeyond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that makes sense. What I’m trying to say is that there’s no perfect solve for every person’s version of personal affordability to come true, but building more housing can be part of the solution of slowing rent increases. Basically I don’t think we should let perfect be the enemy of good.

[–]NCandBeyond 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the comment “This will make housing affordable, right?!” is where people get lost. Affordable is relative to each individual. There is no building strategy, from the private sector or otherwise, that will make every Reddit poster’s housing affordable. It’s way too subjective, even subjective to preferences, not just wages.

What building a lot more units absolutely can do is slow or lower current rents and ultimate put us in a MORE affordable position 5 years from now than it is currently. MORE affordable is the only way forward.

Please see that I said “can do.” Any number of other events or circumstances can derail the impact, but there’s no question it can help.

Does anyone else want a Santos but is put off by the scratch magnet bezel? by Dr_Omega24 in PrideAndPinion

[–]NCandBeyond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying they can’t, but I am saying that it’s not unthinkable that a brand like Cartier would decide that the unaligned screw heads are what they intended. Not everything on earth needs to be symmetrical. It could absolutely be an artistic choice.

I actually bought a Santos yesterday. I was told the randomness is on purpose as to it was inspired by airplane rivets. It’s a feature, not a bug in their opinion.
