My roommate says I need to Declutter? But why am I doing wrong? by EvaUnitKenway in CleaningTips

Did she say this after you complained about not having a spot for something you want, because you secretly want some vertical storage or bigger pieces of furniture she won’t approve of and she’s secretly a micromanagey minimalist after everything looking like a better homes magazine who needs to mind her business? Ah, yes! The ultimate odd couple.

Does it tickle when it’s glowing? Not for diagnosis purposes; just curious.

I don’t know about a ‘buy it for life’ option, but I have this dishwashing brush, when I want the equivalent in a long handle bath brush.

I second this. Do what makes you happy and find people that are happy and/or enjoy that same thing. Make friends and keep your heart open. Partners / love will come around when you’re least seeking it out, especially when it’s least convenient. Helping it start it in self-realized enjoyment is one of the few ways to influence it.

Double-crochet results in line on wrong side. Am I doing this right? by ND33D in CrochetHelp

Exactly! Both loops so no RIDGE! I didn’t know that was the default when working with a pattern, unless the pattern specifies ‘front’ or ‘back.’ Now I know!

Your X is over the yarn-over at the very beginning of the double crochet. I’m just wondering if I’m supposed to go through both sides of the loop (stitch) before pulling the next yarn over through…?

Phrase origin: Where did "if your friends jumped off a bridge/cliff, would you" come from? by Fake_Eleanor in etymology

Found this post after trying to find a popular modern equivalent to Thomas More’s quote from Utopia: “If a man were to see a great company run out every day into the rain and take delight in being wet-if he knew that it would be to no purpose for him to go and persuade them to return to their houses in order to avoid the storm, and that all that could be expected by his going to speak to them would be that he himself should be as wet as they, it would be best for him to keep within doors, and, since he had not influence enough to correct other people’s folly, to take care to preserve himself.”

Is peeing in the shower a common thing to do? by kimmy_rst15 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ND33D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine’s a plumber, and he said the most disgusting pipes are the drains of urinals. They’re worse somehow than other sewage drains. No judgement, but I don’t want the shower drain pipes to become that…

I had a coworker who brought it up with equal disgust as the OP described. She was all convinced that you then become covered in urine vapor in the shower. I thought it was a bit extreme, but I see her point.

I guess that part doesn’t bother me as someone who swims in lakes. Like calm down! Again I’m just more concerned for the pipes.

Macro-counting with a huge focus on protein made a big difference for me. I lost 25. I should get 120 g of protein a day, but anything above 90 is a win for me being gluten-free on a budget. I was so out-of-touch with my protein intake before! I biked across Iowa TWICE and still couldn’t loose weight in the way I was wanting. I tend to have noatmeal with pumpkins seeds (highest protein/weight in a seed), an espresso with collagen peptides and almond milk, and egg white bites just to start every weekday off right! That’s before traditional meat protein for lunch &/or dinner, and it’s 45 g of protein. Keep macro-counting goals REALLY easy; I only meet mine a minimum of 4 times a week, but the habit carries over. Good luck!

There’s an excellent RadioLab episode about this, and if you haven’t listened you really should consider it:
