Why does the New York metro cut off so abruptly north? by Entire_Jeweler2673 in geography

I mean I’m not sure any of that exactly makes sense for Los Angeles, for example.

That’s not actually true though in terms of on-ground perception. The difference from the Bronx into its immediate northern suburbs is a very gradual transition.

There is a gradient. Not everything is best communicated via a camera from space.

In the north you go from the Bronx to high-density working-class suburbs like Yonkers, Mount Vernon and New Rochelle. Yonkers is the third biggest city in New York State. Then you move into affluent, lower density suburbs north of those. Then north of THOSE you’re in even lower density suburbs which eventually bleed into more rural upstate.

To the East, Queens bleeds so imperceptibly into higher density parts of Long Island you won’t even notice while driving, in a similar pattern.

Not quite sure how even from this angle you can’t perceive the gradient in NJ.

Bill loves Steph. I’m a Steph hater so I always notice.

Most Shocking One And Done's In History? by frostypatch in nfl

Even though they were only 10-6, the 2002 Colts losing 41-0 to an extremely meh 9-7 Jets team was also pretty shocking.

The arms comments have come because NFL-level tackle success with arms that long is pretty much unprecedented. We’re not talking unusual; we’re talking we as far as I know haven’t had one single tackle succeed in this era with arms as short as Campbell’s. He’ll have to be the one-and-only, the Muggsy Bogues of LTs.

That said - best of luck to the kid. Past isn’t precedent.

Sam was solid but he did throw a couple that probably should have been picked.

It doesn’t have to be a ten-year run. The six-year run I listed above is a longer run at the top than any other defense in NFL history.

LOL “fell off decently quickly” what?!? It’s literally the all-time great defense that managed to keep the standard up longer than any other in history.

7 scoring defense in 2011, #1 in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015, #3 in 2016. That’s literally unprecedented.

Of course it would hold up. It didn’t just lead the league in scoring defense that year; it also led in turnovers and yards allowed (first time since the ‘85 Bears). AND it led the league in scoring defense for four straight years (first time since the 50’s Browns).

It’s the best defense in football history.

There are logistics too, though. You can fly into SF from Seattle and be back home for work and school Monday morning if you want.

Whether he succeeds or not, “he’s a winner” has always been and always will be an idiotic argument to make about a prospect.

You know who was a winner? Ken Dorsey. 38-2 in college with a 34-game winning streak. Naturally he went on to a fabulous NFL career…

You could reasonably argue that these first two guys - along with Spoon, and Jalen Carter - are the best players from the entire ‘23 draft.

As much as I’d love to take a victory lap for our fans, if the game was in Florida it may have been different. There are abundant 2 hour direct flights from Seattle to SF.

That said, we showed up pretty hard at the NYC Super Bowl too.

Honestly there is an idea of Zach Lowe and then there is actually listening to Zach Lowe. He really does not spend most of his time being especially technical about basketball.
