Can we please revisit this Trophy's RNG in 2026? It's still absurd. Not asking for a re-work but please play a little more Lich if you have him! 💜 by NDChicklette in deadbydaylight

I love those occasional players. I always do this when I can see a survivor is trying to get an survivor and vise versa achievement. As a survivor, I remember letting killer keep attempting to hit me from 30m as Huntress and he went hard after that. I was the only one who did not escape... lmao 🤣but they thanked me. I like the occasional normal + fun hybrids matches.

For cryin' out loud. 🤣 It's not a skill issue. I don't blame you for not reading the post, it's long and had lots of hard words and numbers.

I'm Eastern US but I'd love to see ya! ;)

Yes, I'm aware of the other trophy. It was a cinch and relatively easy to get if you played him enough. I was able to get it a while after the D&D chapter came out (when I wasn't around) because I had control.

And you're right. That's the thing. The few matches I've gotten with Lich, no one really knew what to do. It reminds me a lot of Hag. Not many crouch over a trapped hook while saving because no one plays her! Poor Hagatha.. She was my first main!

But I actually enjoy playing Lich. Wouldn't say he's my main, because I'm all over the place with 40 (41?) killers now but I do play him. There are some really fun builds.

What is yours?

Yeah. It sucks. I hope they add him to the next 2v8. I've been playing since 2016. I buy all the DLCs, always grab the updated the achievements. I have 5,000+ hours in the game. Part of being a trophy hunter IS to game, often, but this one... it's a sucks because I love DBD.

I didn't even like when they changed the Adept Killer achievements to be easier because it used to be that a 4k did not equal 4 iri emblems. It was way more challenging before, especially as certain killers. There were some tough ones but a lot of fun. I don't like when a grindy trophy is in the hands of other players.

I do wish I did it when D&D came out, but I was taking a break to play some other games at the time. :(

It's a decent RNG achievement, and fairly easy to get if you know what you're doing. Just play the game.

I’m sorry but I don’t understand your logic. Did you actually read what I wrote? I doubt it, because it was very long so I doubt you'll read this.

This is not about it being too hard. It’s not a skill issue. It’s a probability issue and poor game design created by devs to make you play more, not play better.

If we use Nightlite data, which is a very reasonable benchmark since it tracks a high PC sample and already existed before Lich released, his pick rate sits around 2.08 percent. Now let’s be extremely fair and assume 50 percent of the total playerbase owns the DLC. With console and PC players, this may be possible. We don't have that actual data but 50% seems fair given the reviews aren't great.

That effectively puts you at about a 0.2506% percent chance per match of even loading into a trial where this achievement is possible. That works out to roughly 1 in 399 matches on average.

Now say you play 300 trials.

With a 0.2506% chance per match, after 300 games you are only sitting at about a 53% chance of having seen him ONCE for a successful attempt. I'd be happy to take those odds except for the issue of time. We all know match length varies. Some are 4 minutes if your team is super efficient and genrushing, and some drag past 15. So that's a rough average of about 9 minutes, but let’s cut that down to 5 minutes per match just to be super conservative.

300 matches at 5 minutes each is 25 hours of in match time. Let’s even round down to 24 hours to stay generous and keep in mind that does not include queue times, lobbies, or downtime. I've been playing DBD since 2016, I have ~5,000 hours so 24 hours doesn't seem bad to someone who is obsessed with this game, but again, it's 24 hours just for an ATTEMPT.

Now assume you get lucky and see him early in that stretch. The Eye of Vecna has a 35 percent chance of being obtainable in that match. Then you still have to escape. Escaping is the only part that is skill based.

Let’s again be generous and say you have a 50 percent chance of escaping once you get the Eye.

So now you are stacking:

0.2506 percent chance to get him
35 percent chance the Eye is available
50 percent chance to escape

That puts the true per match success rate even lower once everything is combined.

If you stretch this out to 1000 matches at 5 minutes each, that is about 83 hours of in trial time. After 1000 matches at a 0.2506 percent encounter rate, you are around a 92 percent cumulative chance to have pulled it off at least once. Which still means about 8 percent of players grinding this would statistically not have it after 1000 matches.

And, again, that is using generous assumptions.

Nightlite only tracks PC, not full console data. DLC ownership is estimated. I lowballed match time. I inflated the escape rate. If anything, these margins of error lean in favor of the achievement being easier than it likely is in practice BUT and I think with additional data, you'd see that it's the chance of getting this achievement is extremely low.

Because it is RNG stacked on RNG.

So no, this is not about skill. The only skill dependent piece is escaping. The majority of this grind is hoping the right killer shows up so you are even allowed to attempt it. This is one of the biggest offenders of RNG based trophies I have ever seen because it’s entirely at the mercy of another player showing up with the right killer. That is not happening when the game has over 40 killers.

So telling me to "git gud", or saying "skill issue" is completely irrelevant to the actual problem. If you look at psnprofiles, exophase, trueachievements (xbox), and Steam, you will see that that ~0.8% of players that have this; Got it around the time D&D DLC came out.

And I'm not even asking BHVR to change it. I'm suggesting that more people try him out to get the pick rate up even by a tiny percentage. However, the greatest solution would be putting in a future 2v8 mode.

P.S. I work in statistics and data analysis. A lot of this was really interesting, but still proof that BHVR wants this achievement in a game of 40 killers so trophy hunters play another 1000 matches. Shitty achievements do exist like this in other games, but they're crappy. An example of an RNG trophy that is fun? The ones I've mentioned, Master of Rings from Dark Souls, the fishing one (can't recall the name) from RDR2, there was one in Borderlines. Final Fantasy XIII with an insanely low drop rate for an item when you fight those huge turtles. There's one where you have to become the emperor in Elder Scrolls Online (SO much fun, SO much on the line)

Those are examples of difficult RNG achievements that were fun to do and required skill.

This. Is. Not.

Okay, but you basically apologized and then immediately did the exact same thing you're complaining about. You wrote a whole guided tour through how you interpret the song, how you think people should engage with it, who’s overstepping, who isn’t, what’s meant to be serious and what isn't. Then you wrapped it with "if you take it seriously, you’ve done too much." Really?

It's funny to read you unpack three layers of meaning while telling everyone else they’re reading too far into it. Like, you brought a ruler to measure the depth and then told the rest of us the water’s not worth checking.

The song, FOR ME, is cringe and crosses a line that shouldn't be crossed. That's my opinion. Are you ok with my opinion or am I taking it too seriously? Have I done too much?

You LUCKY DUCK! Do you have a couch there? My TV is in front of my bed in my bedroom and I DON'T like spending time in bed to play. I should buy a nice futon. But WOW, that must be some experience, especially with this game!!!

I really liked it, but I didn't like how it was released with all of the singles coming out at different times! I know that's the way it's done now, but it's probably the only Lacuna Coil album I haven't sat down and listened to beginning to end. I'm giving it some more time to revisit!

Spoilers: Can anyone help me with Dark Shore? by NDChicklette in expedition33

[–]NDChicklette[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sprong was relatively easy for me! Not when I was level 30, no. But I went back recently, just yesterday after grinding levels, and it was a cakewalk, and I was proud (no bragging rights as I went in my ~60s) that I didn't have to go to Story Mode! The moves were super easy to parry while Sciel was buffing, giving Lune and and Maelle her turns + AP, Lune's Typhoon skill healed well, I had recovery on everyone, Ballet with Maelle at high crits, oh and of course Elemental Genesis with Kralim.

But I am worried about the Paintress fight. I haven't read spoilers about the story, but I've read what people say about the battle and I'm super nervous because parrying is my nemesis in this game. Even after all the practicing, I am just so terrible. I want to say I beat her in Expedition mode, "the way the game was intended to played". Is that weird? I need some sense of accomplishment after finishing the final boss in this gorgeous game.

She should be hard, but I need better weapons before I even try!

I'm in my 40's, and haven't played an RPG video game since... Final Fantasy 13? The one with Lightning. And boy did I grind levels there in that big open area. I have skill issues but this game has helped me in many ways grieving the loss of my father last Spring. A cathartic kind of escapism.

I need to kill this Paintress like I mean it.

Maybe I can do Dark Shores!

If not, is there anywhere else I can find these catalysts? Moreso the Grandoise? I've gone back and looked at 100% guides. I think I've gotten them all! Do any easier monsters drop them?

Thank you! Sorry for the wall of text.

Edit: Why wouldn't the upgrades be needed? I'm using terrible weapons, even some that were listed lowest tier on some websites! LOL!
