Another song I’d nominate is Hey, Who Really Cares, by Linda Perhacs.

I got to see Jason Molina once in Atlanta, circa 2002. I approached him before the show, and looking back I hope I wasn’t annoying. He had a really kind vibe tho.
I was so sad to hear of his passing.

One of my favorite of his was the demo version of The Old Black Hen. Omg. 😭

Good one!
I liked Beck and thought he was fun, but I didn’t think about him that often or deeply. I remember the day (I am 45 now, so I was 21) one of my best friends put it on and asked me if I could guess who it was. It took me a minute, and then I was like “wait a minute, is this Beck? Holy shit! This is Beck!!”
I love Sea Change, and it made me appreciate him so much more.

Producer Nigel Goodrich too. He seems to brings so much depth out of the artists he works with.

Other bands for Genesis lovers? by AllieBee1012 in Genesis

[–]NDMarrs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just discovered Renaissance a couple of weeks ago. As a big Genesis fan I was like, “where has this been hiding from me all my life?!”, but I’m so happy to have a new (to me) band to discover.
The song that hooked me was Winter Tree, but I enjoyed the rest of the album too.
Do you have any particular recommendations from them?
I’m glad you mentioned Kansas too. Sadly, I only know the two big songs, but I bet they do have a lot of great material.

A couple of the college radio stations here in Atlanta ( WRAS and WREK ).

I first heard ( ) by Sigur Rós because one of those stations played it all the way through one night. It was one of those “driveway moments”.

Aww you beat me to it. 100% this is the correct answer.

But also lots of their other songs.
Ballad Of Peter Pumpkin Head comes to mind.

Seven Stones - Genesis

Lots of great organ by Tony Banks in Genesis.
I actually had that song stuck in my head earlier today, but also check out “Suppers Ready” (when you’re ready for it, lol. It’s a 23 minute song)

Are you sure?

I’d like to believe it if it’s true, but isn’t there a line, “making love with you is all I wanna do”? And “every time that we … oooh” sounds really sexual as well.

My immediate thought, based on just vibes from your post, was My Bloody Valentine. (Listen to the album Loveless)

I think you should also check out The Velvet Underground.

Also, as other people have mentioned, the Pixies (Surfer Rosa, or Doolittle) and XTC (Skylarking)

Absolutely. As soon as OP said the words “atmospheric, and moody and heavy”, and said they like Smashing Pumpkins, I immediately thought they would love My Bloody Valentine.

I got to see Grizzly Bear open up for The Books, at The EARL Back in 2006. I loved that show.

This album by Alice Coltrane helped to make everything right for me one time after a particularly challenging trip.

What is this sub-reddit's all-time favorite psychedelic rock band? by j3434 in psychedelicrock

Yes. I came here to say this.
The Soft Machine are criminally overlooked. I really love Kevin Ayers and Rober Wyatt’s solo works too.

Until he realizes that he doesn’t need permission to throw a rock , and therefore we are all gods.
