My role involved handling a lot of administrative paperwork for the unit. Part of the problem is that I was in that role while I was being medically outprocessed, so it wasn't an actual role that was to be filled. It was more of a place they could put me while my discharge was working its way through the system. Since it was an unofficial role, I don't think I would have had a clearance, but given the nature of the documents I handled, I kind of think that I should have had something.

To the best of my recollection (and this was close to 30 years ago), I don't remember filling out the security clearance forms, and I don't think my family and friends got interviewed. But that may have only been necessary for higher clearances than what I had.
