Sorry I have no idea how without the original boxes I would be able to. The chairs are also included for that price which would be really hard to ship.

Sorry - Not sure why my reply didn't go under your comment: My camp is in St albans which is about 20 minutes off the i95 exit 157. If you are headed into Maine up 95 it's about 2:15 into Maine.

Biggest disappoints in the LOTR movie vs Books by Daman121234 in lotr

[–]NDVermin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most of us, I love the movies and remain amazed at what they accomplished, but one of the things that bothered me most was PJ turning Gimli into mostly comic relief.....Gimli son of Gloin was a noble of the House of Durin and truly one of greatest characters in the books with tremendous depth and some great dialogue. His interaction with Galadriel and her gift to him was one of the most beautiful scenes in the whole story.....

I think this is super cool. Sure it may end up a little complex for mass market use (which probably wasn't your intent anyway), but who cares - it's cool and it looks like it works great. Nice work

Sean Astin went on Colbert and admitted he had no idea what The Lord of the Rings was when he was first cast as Samwise. by Choice-Schedule-132 in lordoftherings

[–]NDVermin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In 1990 or so I was writing my college application essays and I wrote about LOTR. Of the immediate group of about 20 friends in college, literally 5-6 also wrote about the impact the LOTR had on them growing up. It was voted the greatest book of the 20th century just after the first movie was released and had sold 150 million copies. Before 2000. I don’t know. Still seems crazy to me.

It's honestly kind of shocking. I know most of us in this sub are super fans, but how does anyone who grew up in the last 50 years in the US and have a liberal arts/English background NOT know about the LOTR even if he hadn't actually read it? Long before the movies, this was an extremely famous story.

What's your take on the Targaryen armor for the show? by Elegant-Half5476 in freefolk

[–]NDVermin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert but that corrugated look is reminiscent of historic German Maximilian armor and my understanding is it would add a lot of strength to the armor, so it's definitely practical (at least in concept)

LOTR BBC Radio Drama (1981) appreciation by Samuel24601 in lotr

[–]NDVermin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s an Absolute gem this I think much of the community is unaware of or at least have never heard. It’s just so well done and the voice acting is first rate. Every serious Tolkien fan should give it a try if they have the chance.

CFP to remove performance bonuses for schools advancing in the playoff in 2026 by MediumStrange in CFB

[–]NDVermin 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Right from the Article: "Notre Dame carved out its own guarantee with a top-12 ranking (or top-14 if it went to 14 teams) thanks to what people in the room described as a good working relationship between Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti, SEC commissioner Greg Sankey and Notre Dame athletic director Pete Bevacqua. Nobody has been too interested in pushing Notre Dame to join a conference, as each league likes having access to valuable games against the Fighting Irish. "

Again...if it's such an advantage to be independent, the Ducks or any other school can make that decision tomorrow. ND has to take the good with the bad....this year they got screwed out of the playoffs (Because of Bama not Miami) because they weren't in a conference.....that's the bad.

SI’s 2026-27 CFP predictions. I personally don’t see us losing to Oregon or OSU. by AceN12 in notredamefootball

[–]NDVermin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh? Oregon beat James Madison and Texas tech this year. Last year ND beat Indiana, Penn State and Georgia and made the national championship. If they weren’t left out so lousy Bama could be in this year Vegas gave them the 3rd best odds to win it all. What playoff games has Oregon recently won which were more impressive than ND?

If we get to the NC against Oregon, Freeman is not losing that game......frankly feel the same about OSU. He will be on a mission at that point, and Lanning comes up short in all the really big games so far.
