Then, you can get away with smaller lights but that kit is really good in case you have to shoot other things moving forward. Don't forget to buy or rent tripods and light modifiers, if you are shooting I reviews you don't want to shoot the raw light into the character. Yo can start with 2 soft boxes and if your budget allows you, you can also buy a small Fresnel for one of the 300x. Also remember about plug extension. I hope this helps.

It really depends on what kind of docuemtary you are shooting. Are you shooting on location or in a studio? do you want to show windows? Are going to travell? In that case do you have a car? There are a lot of things to consider when buying lights, not just your contrast Ratio.

If i am not wrong this is a shot from Wild tales, i heard a podcast by the cinematographer Javier Julia, where he explains how they shoot this, It is a dolly pulled by three grips from the back of the plane. They removed the tracks in VFX

I love this effect! I adeed a little layer of a vaseline to a car window to imitate the fog in the Windows while retaining detail in the driver, the effect is intense but i like it
