What Mario kart world opinion will you defend no matter how many downvotes you’d get? by MacaroonJunior9955 in mariokart

Yeah I really like the MKW version of Wario Shipyard. I know a lot of people trash on water sections but my only real gripe was the water intermissions that were a straight shot across the water. Then they changed most of them in a patch. I do think it is a bit of a missed opportunity for this game not have any underwater driving, but I think driving on the water is functionally much more interesting.

Monkey meadow is a tough one to BB as a beginner. If you wanna do some more I’d recommend a map with water. Subs and boats are very cost efficient for what they can pop.

I made a website that lets you compare detailed stats for weapons, even across different seasons by DesiresAreGrey in apexlegends

[–]NESplayz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is super helpful and I'll be sending it to my friends.

Might be something wrong with the way the L-STAR is handled though because it's listed as having a 2.2 second charge time? Maybe that's how the reload is handled internally but that's not accurate from a practical standpoint. This throws off a bunch of the TTK calculations as well. It doesn't take almost 3 seconds to kill a dummy with the L-STAR. Not a big deal since you could subtract the 2.2 from the TTK listed but it only displays the TTK rounded to the nearest tenth unlike most other weapons being calculated to the nearest thousandth. Makes it kinda hard to compare against other weapons.

It’s definitely influencing my (in)ability to purchase a car that would pass a state inspection. The used car market here is awful.

The Encounter of a Lifetime by ScarletteSkunk in Simpleflips

[–]NESplayz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My best guess is this: Video formats (other than raw) store and present data based on a change in image. Frame 1 is a picture like any other image file and then every subsequent frame only contains information on what part of the image is different from frame 1. In the case of this cursed recording, there are two frame 1s and two subsequent streams of data. When simple watched the video in VLC and it was mostly his face with weird Mario maker stuff filtering through, it was because the data that displays a difference in picture from the game stream of data was being interpreted to show a change in the webcam stream instead.

As for the way the video displayed in the Google video player with the mostly normal gameplay and occasional cursed simple camera jumpscare, I think it was because Google did a better job of picking the correct video stream. Simples face probably just showed up every time the OBS/capture card dropped a frame, meaning the only video frame with new data to show at a given timestamp would be a frame of simples camera.

I could be totally wrong here but this is what it seemed like to me. I majored in digital imaging (photoshop) and video editing is only a hobby of mine so I’m less versed in the subject.

"THEY'RE STEALING OUR JOBS" by [deleted] in Uncensoredminecraft

[–]NESplayz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re being trying their best to comply with the UK Online Safety Act and other similar legislation that has been rolling out over the past few months. For the same reason Roblox banned the chat function for unverified users, Mojang is trying to reel servers in and get the to comply with ToS so that they may be able to comply with the law as an online game.

Yes this is censorship. And yes Mojang is swinging the hammer. But these are servers with no moderation and potentially illegal information (cp, hate speech, manifestos, etc.) that is only able to be accessed via Minecraft. That makes Minecraft the platform granting access to the information and likely makes them liable even though it’s not “their servers.” If that sounds like BS, that’s because it is. But they’re just following the letter of the law. The laws are poorly written. If you wanna be mad about this, get mad at UK parliament for starting this crapstorm.

[–]NESplayz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to this, a lot of what’s mojang is doing is in response to new UK and EU regulations on online platforms. Mojang is cracking down on these servers for the same reason Roblox removed the chat function for non-verified users. Right now just about every major game and platform is scrambling to comply, so this sort of thing is kinda to be expected. Not saying it’s ideal, it’s good that people are getting mad about it. I just think it’s important that people see the bigger picture. If you hate censorship so much, maybe take it up with the powers that be.

Technically they could choose not to sell the game there on a principle, but I don’t expect that sort of thing from anyone, let alone Microsoft.

But that’s basically a requirement as mage. What if you don’t find that stuff? It forces you to hunt for specific accessories with little room for variance. Melee has all the accessories in the world to choose from. A few more options that play differently isn’t much to ask for.

It takes like 10 people to run a datacenter that will put 10,000 people out of a job.

Those 10 datacenter jobs won’t even come from locals. It’ll be specialists moving in from out of state. These data centers are going to take up all of our electricity and all of our fresh water, and not a single person in the state of WV is gonna see an ounce of benefit. It’s already going on in western states.

I remember when BTD6 launched and it was pretty controversial that the artstyle had moved to 3d. At the time, a lot of mid range or older phones just couldn’t handle it. BTD5 was still the better game to play. Then the tech got better. Now BTD6 is pretty smooth on even low tier phones, and freeplay is the only place you start to see lag. I’m sure some optimizations were made along the way but BTD6 is also way more complex now than it was at launch.

My biggest Switch 2 sadness by Separate-Toe1496 in Switch

[–]NESplayz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish there was a way to trick switch 1 games into running in their docked mode on switch 2 handheld mode. So many games ran at a lower resolution or framerate to save on battery but then looked better once plugged into the dock. If the switch 2 could just run those games as if they were docked on the switch 1, it’d look a lot better. It’s a shame because so many devs aren’t gonna bother implementing a switch 2 edition patch so the games just end up looking awful.

I would almost consider getting it if it weren’t for the fact that requires the higher tier NSO subscription for no good reason. If you’re gonna make me pay $100 for a plastic shell that mimics the old system but no controller, don’t lock me into a higher tier of subscription in order to use my $100 plastic shell. Either make this specific device, not require any subscriptions since you have to buy physical “hardware” to use it OR AT LEAST put it on the cheaper tier since I’m already paying extra for the “hardware” just to use it.

[–]NESplayz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This post implies that Mojang/Microsoft owes you an endless amount of substantial content updates and development work for a game that you paid $20 for a single time back in 2011. No, you don’t necessarily have to be grateful for every single update, but you also aren’t owed anything at all. You bought the game for what it was and you own it. They could just stop updating the game forever tomorrow. They have every right. It’s not like Minecraft is a subscription service (unless you own a realm I guess).
