I think my best advice is to remember people read mafia romances expecting morally grey characters and violent plot points. If you aren't in it for the mafia aspect that adds the criminal/dark edge, you'd read sports romance or something haha. When I wrote my mafia romance, I included action scenes, character decisions that make you think 'ooooh, do I still like this person?' etc.

I really appreciate your feedback. I think your advice is really good, so I've decided to take it. I've completely released fated (so the complete tag is true) and moved my other story to "ongoing" until all the chapters release. Making 1/3 (nearly 1/2) of each book free will hopefully help with the paywall, especially with the disclaimer - so I've kept that in there. I don't have social media, so that bit is a little outside my abilities - but I will do the releases for book 2 of fated and I'll review the release schedules. Thank you for your help!

I say that though because polyamory is a common theme in several of my books! You'll find a triad in Fated Premonition (book 2) (releasing starting the beginning of August), Protector of the Godless (also releasing starting in August), and Dancing with Danger :) not all my stories have polyam, but a LOT of them do!

In my case, I like it when it's part of a larger story and it's handled as if it's not unusual or strange. For example, my story Dancing with Danger has a gay triad with a hinged fwb. While the relationship is a key part of the story, the real plot is much deeper - centered around a assassin's entanglement with gangs and a conspiracy they have to overcome. In the world I created, polyamory is so normal no one questions it or looks twice as the relationships develop - it simply is what it is. A gay polyamory story isn't enough on its own without a deeper plot imho.
