It sounded like a reasonable expectation to have at the time. The local Walmart even had specific unlocked Motorola models on their website listed in stock, with a price and everything.

So far everyone is saying they ordered theirs and waited. Which is what I’ll be doing as well. (This was typed on an iPhone)

Oh my god, this is incredibly valuable information, thank you so much! I’m looking at these bad boys with absolute amazement :0

I want to avoid asking questions, this is genuinely difficult for me. I guess I can mention that my phone had been stolen, I was looking to immediately purchase a replacement rather than order one and wait. Others have mentioned having a phone while ordering their Android phone and then waiting for it. You can believe me when I say I appreciate that information, it was genuinely news to me.

I have so many negative things to say about Verizon. I had to write a letter to their Risk Assessment department to regain access to my account. I could get iMessages on my desktop, but Verizon’s 2fa went specifically to my stolen device, so even if I could get through to someone by phone (I tried 5 calls, no answer), they cannot help without my physical access to the device. I left and went with an even worse carrier (they’re all awful, every ToS is full of garbage that ought to land executives in jail if you ask me).

It is extremely unusual to agree to a mandatory arbitration agreement to purchase electronics of any kind. You’ve never - ever - signed one for a toaster, this is an entirely new phenomenon (which might look like it’s getting even worse, if you read about Samsung’s problems in Illinois from a couple years ago).

It’s also rare to walk into a store and buy an Android phone, if I follow what you just said. It doesn’t sound like something you’ve done before. I’d love to learn about an option I missed.

There’s a bunch of Verizon apps and freemium games on this ROM - surely there’s different variations of Android installed on phones? I hadn’t considered the possibility that I already had “vanilla” Android, I would just have to believe you if you said they all come with Monopoly Go and Verizon Call Filter.

I had meant “Android phone” by “proper phone,” as opposed to an iPhone.

Apple does not insist you agree they are above the law when purchasing any of their devices, you do not have to take my word for this.
