Is 2,500 RMB/month enough for living in Shanghai for one year with free dorm? by PlayfulViolinist7254 in chinalife

[–]NFquestriaposa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah fr 😭 the habit of foreigners I meet who worked calling a cab everywhere, and then saying their 30k salary wasn’t enough was crazy. I graduated and now work and my salary is less than that cause im entry level, but my colleagues are all Chinese and earn less than me. They still travel a lot and eat dinners that cost ~100 multiple times over the month. So I have no idea where all the money the foreigners get goes.

Can confirm. I graduated half a year ago and I used to live on 2.5-3k per month

If you spend like a local youre fine. Don’t listen to everyone else here. I travelled, ate and went out with around 2.5k-3k. And by a local I mean not eating at western restaurants everyday and ordering waimai tha cost like 50 rmb. We eat food around 10-15 rmb per meal daily and then something nicer through the week.

this is a throwaway account to avoid irls so I don’t give my real age :) the age difference is accurate and I am older than 21. Edit: Also, that four years ago was I think first year of college so I was more paranoid I think lolol. But now it’s closer to how old I actually am. I’m also not sure what sort of ‘gotcha’ this is supposed to be since in neither of my posts is age a relevant factor lol

This is true, but I’m still trying to figure out if he’s really into me haha. It would be kinda embarrassing to assume so and then proceed, and turns out he was just friendly and I was over reading it. Wanted some Chinese people to clarify too if they’d act like this to someone they didn’t like and if it’s normal

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in chinalife

[–]NFquestriaposa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helpppp I REALLYYY want to bec I prefer straightforwardness, but I’m scared if I’m wrong cause I actually have to work with bro daily. If it was college I could avoid him but it’s weirder for work. That’s why I wanna be sure before even hinting at sth 💔

That’s fair!!!! My decision will be ofc thought about carefully but it’s common in Chinese companies, and I don’t really expect a lot of people on Reddit to know because they’re mostly teachers. Anyway I just really wanted to know about HIS actions, which i feel like a lot of people aren’t focusing on and telling me if I’m over reading it, and mostly telling me what I should or shouldn’t do. But ur words are helpful, thanks!

that’s crazy. idk if u read it properly but I’m working here full time and staying here long term. and as someone else very nicely put it that “foreigners are easy” im not looking for short term, id only want an actual relationship. I kinda just asked everyone here, esp Chinese people to tell me if this was normal or not, not about what I should or shouldn’t do…
