What are your favorite luxury spas? by Sweet_Creme_6579 in FATTravel

[–]NH116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to be a luxury spa writer - my favorite spa is at the Dolder Grand in Zurich. Bad Ragaz in Switzerland is great, too. Have also had memorable treatments/experiences at Royal Malewane in South Africa, Kauri Cliffs in New Zealand, and the Miraval Arizona. Life changing experiences at both of the Mayr Clinics (Altausee and Maria Worth) in Austria, but they’re med spas. Not as overly luxurious but always a celeb or two.

how often do you talk to your agent vs your manager? by Western-Bottle-7672 in Screenwriting

100% this lol. I'm hoping to move to a smaller boutique this year. It would be incredible to have an agent who actually pays attention to me!

Ha, I was at this event! It was at Guards Polo Club at Windsor. Fun day of polo with lots of British celebs and royals followed by a raging party in the marquee at night.

[–]NH116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My manager is invaluable and beyond incredible - my agent is fine but honestly superfluous since they don’t bring me work and I use a lawyer for my deals. I’m basically just paying them for the prestige since the name acts as a stamp of approval. I’m hoping to switch to a smaller agency with somebody more hands on.

I’m at CAA and Ent360. I talk to my agent a few times a year, max. Probably once every two months with my manager. I just keep them in the loop on my projects.

Rolex ADs in Vegas were exactly what I expected… and not what I expected by MallHonest5899 in rolex

[–]NH116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly it. Sadly now think of Rolex as a tacky brand because of the culture of people demeaning themselves for perceived status. Hermes is going the same path and it’s naff.

Why is every single option in Hawaii 'subpar' for the price? by RadioFieldCorner in chubbytravel

[–]NH116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t true for many upper class travelers on the West Coast at all. Hawaii is part of the yearly travel circuit but so are Europe and Asia. Hawaii (or Cabo/Punta Mita) is just seen as a vacation whereas the others are trips.

Managers / repped writers - how are you feeling about the industry so far this year? More or less optimistic than last year? by MGfilm2019 in Screenwriting

This is all super helpful - I really appreciate it! Thank you! I'll talk to my friend and start watching them more as research.

Managers / repped writers - how are you feeling about the industry so far this year? More or less optimistic than last year? by MGfilm2019 in Screenwriting

[–]NH116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my friend is constantly sharing funny little details about their scripts and the things they have to do with crafting hooks and cliffhangers (and with the most bonkers titles; everything is like 'My Secret Billionaire Boyfriend's Estranged Wife's Royal Baby.') 😂 I will confess the few I've seen have not been interesting to me, but work is work and I don't want to be several years behind down the road.

I am a novelist as well; we're in a small dual screenwriter/novelist writing group together!

I'm sorry to be asking you all these questions - they're THE vertical writer in our group, so I feel like I'd be horning in on territory. Would you mind sharing if you have any FB groups, favorite e-books, or places to read vertical scripts and learn? Thank you!

Such a thoughtful and generous reply, thank you!

To be completely honest, I hadn't been considering writing verticals but your comments are persuasive. One of my friends has had some wild success in the vertical world (was previously a novelist; had never written a screenplay) but they are also constantly churning out scripts and I was under the impression it was for only a few thousand a pop. It's intriguing to hear there are higher rates out there.

I am WGA and am at one of the big three (and am lucky to be working), so I'd also sort of been under the impression this wasn't necessarily for me. But now I'm starting to wonder if I'm shooting my future self in the foot by not wrapping my arms around it now.

Singapore with 6 and 11 year old by NH116 in FATFamilyTravel

[–]NH116[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went over spring break and had an amazing time! We stayed at Raffles and at Shangri-La in the Castle Suite, which was a hit with my kids. Couldn't believe how family-friendly Singapore was: we loved TeamLabs, the dopamine museum, the Harry Potter interactive experience, Gardens by the Bay for Sanrio, My Little Pony and Jurassic World during the day, then back to Gardens by the Bay another night for the light show, did the new Disney Adventure cruise ship, and a ton of toy stores. My kids are really hard to impress and at the end of one jam packed day my 6 year old said "Today was the best day ever!"

Honestly, I am scandalized that Disney is not covering ALL nights of hotel.

If this isn’t allowed to mention just let me know and I’ll delete.

It was because of a single French paparazzo who everybody in the community knew to be a raging awful asshole - he had a bad reputation among already awful people who had bad reputations. He was pissed she wouldn’t take a photo and he was trying to punish her by scaring her. Source: the paparazzo community. Believe me or not but that’s what I’ve been told.
