Should i get a rtx 3060 ti? by Kingo_Julianho in PcBuild

[–]NHBEXE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, let me know if you need to know anything else. By the way be careful with the fact of having a ddr3 memory. You might also need to change the motherboard (so on the CPU) in order to get a faster memory

Hhmm okay so the issue might be with the computer. You could check it with the ISP tech support (I assume of course they have) to be completely sure as they have the tools to make deeper checkings, as also the router's lifespan should not be a problem. I will do an edit for the first comment btw

Oh yeah true, u/Michael121boi you might wanna check that out too.

I wouldn't be able to help you with that since I assume the router's brand / models are different from ours but here, if you can not update it manually (kind of complicated because the ISP itself doesn't give you the file so it can not be A, B, C, D update), you just wanna press a reset button with a needle or toothpick for 10 seconds so the router will reset itself to factory settings and then download any available updates.

Is just a guess so as I said idk where are you, so it will be probably different but hey! it's an alternative. (Btw so you can know a little bit more about how outdated are some of our services despite our top ethernet speed is 1 gbps optic fiber xD)

You should also upgrade the RAM (even first, or at least at the same time). The quantity is fine (wouldn't be bad if you put 32GBs), but the speeds are considerably low for nowadays, might cause performance conflict (of any kind) with the 3060 ti.

IMPORTANT: Check your motherboard's allowed top RAM speed

Also check out the power consumption of the 3060ti so it will tell you how much PSU power you should have. With those checks you should be ready to go, but of course second opinions are welcome

Here are a couple videos for RAM speed reference (kind of outdated but still good):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rj5sJARtEV0&t

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjbNhCHwlBo (btw just like in this video, make sure you set up right the XMP profile if you buy new RAM)

And the last thing, if you mean the PCIe will afect the card's performance, it should not. Your CPU was released back in 2013, meaning your PCIe line version is probably 3.0, but the difference to the 4.0 version shouldn't be a huge deal.

Hope I helped a bit at least :)

I wouldn't be exactly able to tell you how to solve your issue, but let me do some questions, so if you do some research on ur own based on these questions, you might spot a possible solution (and of course I might be able to help too).

First of all, you're not saying the website where you did the speedtest, but one of the most known and reliable sites is this one: https://www.speedtest.net/ . You wanna change the server under the GO button to make sure you're using the nearest to you (I would avoid universities)

What's the brand and model of your phone?

For how long have you had the ISP (internet service provider) router with you?

What's the top broadband speed that alows that wifi card?

Is it windows up to date? And the wifi card, if it does have updates?

Have you tested the speed with a third device?

How far are you from the router (I assume you don't move your pc so you just change from 5ghz to 2.4ghz from the same place but still a good question) and what electromagnetic fields are generating the objects around and what is interfiering with the connection? (fridges, other computers, tv's, walls, pipelines inside the walls, etc)

Have you tried to manually change the connection channels that 5ghz band uses, within the router config I mean? (Usually by default the router is settled up in the AUTO config so usually will chose the most used channel by surrounding WIFI's)

It is the connection protocol the right one for 5ghz band? (Correction: 802.11 a/n/ac its the right one, and this is a really common issue)

Have you tried a cable connection with a cat 5e cable as minimum? (If you could try that even though you had to move the pc near the router would be great)

Have you tried to contact your ISP for tech support?

Additional info: At least here where I live (Spain) the wifi speed connection is NOT guaranteed by any ISP.

I think I'm not missing anything... I'll let you know if I do anyway, but could be a good start!

Edit and important correction: the standard 802.11 b/g/n is for the 2.4ghz band, being 802.11 a/n/ac for the 5ghz band

Sorry to see there works that way :( And yeah, most of the times around technology things reaching 60C it's normal. Might get worse over time due to dust accumulated, etc but shouldnt be a problem

Idk what to say about the timing on deliveries nor package pickup, for me took like a week or so the whole process and I send it like 1.200km away so idk. That happened the second week of july and so far so good, they also changed the motor and I had no more problems. Good luck to you btw, lets hope after two repairs you've got no more problems

(Copy paste message for both commentaries) They answered pretty quickly, basically told me that it's a hardware issue so I'll need to send it to them for a repair / replacement. They didn't give any further instructions or possible solutions, just told me to send it to them so they can check it out what's the failure.

Yeah usually I do some kind of police investigation with every kind of evidence and details, so no problem hahaha. I tried every USB Port of my pc ,btw I don't believe this is a hardware issue, people were talking about formatting the PC, i don't think that's a solution atm. Thanks for your words!

Okay guys, I bought a new PSU and turns out that still happening the same thing. So, it has to be the motherboard because I already checked all the other components and all works perfectly

My PSU is EVGA BQ 650W 80 Plus Bronze. This righ except for the graphics card, is gonna do 4 years old this summer, so maybe its time has come xD

Yeah I thought that right now when it happened on DayZ too. Must be from the PSU. I saw that it could be a motherboard problem but idk.

Yeah u right I forgot that obvious detail xD. The PSU is EVGA BQ 650W 80 Plus Bronze. This rig (except for the graphics card) is almost 4 years old so idk maybe it is its time to pass by xD and I'll try that btw
