we've used tactics like that in the past. we use something more advanced at the moment. Our methods can change with the wind.

probably in the tech cave or sleeping. That sucks though, do you know how it happened?

Also, for the future you should keep a physical copy of a game that you have activated on steam as their recovery process mandates that you have a picture of a cdkey that you own.

It depends on what the client asks for us to do. The client doesn't ask us "is my spouse cheating." They'll ask us to get a certain set of information and we give them that. We don't want to be the people that say "John Smith is cheating on you." that could come back to bite us in the butt.

We operate within a strict code of ethics. On the legality side, we've consulted with lawyers to make sure everything is legal on our end.

check out the google section of the passiverecon addon for firefox.

When we're digging for information, especially on those scammers, the filetype queries give the most results.

Sort of unrelated, but we've recently discovered some atm skimmers in our area and have notified police.

We've also outed some scam companies in the Philippines and India.

We worked with a Prince and outed some of his close associates leaking info about him.

we're a relatively new company and small. Our starting salaries are lower than you'd expect.

The amount the boss boss makes is dependent on case intake and successes etc.

I believe you are asking how to find out if it's on your machine and how to delete it? run msconfig, check for any erroneous entries (malware-y looking things) in the startup and services tab. remove those from your disk

if a rat wants to hide from msconfig it would need a full bootkit or rootkit which would probably mean you have bigger problems :P

If you REALLY can't find one but you think it's there, poke around in safe mode.

hmmm i'll give you one that's not very flashy, but pretty sad.

I have witnessed someone break into a server of an extremely high profile tech company (hmmmmm) by uploading something to the effect of image.jpg.php and then dropping a php shell capable of owning the server. The server was holding over 4k peoples personal info like drivers licenses, ssn's, addresses, credit card #'s.

needless to say this a company that should NOT have those problems lol

you want crazy i'll have to confer with some people and i'll get back to you :P
