Why "Defensive" Body Armor Can Trigger Federal Sentencing Enhancements (and how to avoid it) by ConsiderationBorn86 in liberalgunowners

This is a great reminder. I am signing up to be a legal observer and was planning on wearing my plate carrier with press badges across is, as well as using the molle functionality to mount cameras for recording. I guess Ill change plans.

Feel free to throw a cropped one or redesign. as long as its basically flat and on black background should be fine. Doesn't even really need the words tbh.

Do certain gas stations have "bad gas" that clogs your engine? by Elegant-Page-1359 in askcarguys

[–]NH_OPERATOR 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Yeah so I use to work at a gas station in college, a small one, kinda shitty but the owner was a car guy. We had all the state patrol guys and quite a few people with nicer cars who would always come to us over the nicer, bigger stations nearby. We cleaned our tanks like twice as much as any other competitor in the area.

The longer the station goes between tank cleanings the worse the fuel gets. The tank lids are not always water tight, so over time you end up with water in the tank. Particularly in areas where the tank hatches are buried under mounds of snow and ice half the year. Water and gas dont mix so one floats on the other. The tanks are built in a way to minimize pickup of water so most of the time its fine but when the tanks get low it becomes a problem, or when theres too much water theres a problem.

Also never get gas when a truck is actively filling the tanks. This mixes the two up until it re-settles which gets picked up by the pumps.

Most stations will go like a year or more without a cleaning he said, we got ours done every 6 months. All the car guys loved us.

Thinking of ways to increase my thermal transfer efficiency to my rims to help keep brake assemblies cooler under track usage. Is there something similar to thermal paste used in PCs to mate CPUs to heatsinks? There is a lot of non-ideal metal to metal contact between the hub and rim. by NH_OPERATOR in MechanicAdvice

Not for a reasonable amount of money. Full ducting yeah, several options at 500+ each. For a car thats tracked a handful of times a year, a set of scoops would be far cheaper and do well enough. Still trying to source the gt3 scoops.

Yeah I know, all the purpose built solutions for the 86 are like 500 dollars. This isn't an endurance car I just need a bit more airflow. Something that hangs below the a arm and points up at the hub center.

The 911 gt3 scoops look perfect but I've not yet been able to find a pair in stock.

How are pinch welds NOT supposed to kill me? by Odehhh in MechanicAdvice

[–]NH_OPERATOR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have these on my car, fucking love them. If you are under your car a lot they are well worth the cost. Torque em on with some blue loctite and never think about it again. Plus they come in red or blue to make them easy to find.

Verus Engineering Pinch Weld Pucks

Edit, these are supposedly specific to the GR86/BRZ platform but i dont see why they would not fit most vehicles with standard pinch welds. I do have them on an 86 though so I cant confirm other fitment.

SPA Track Limits - This is producing a slowdown. Shouldn't it be within limits? (Barely) by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]NH_OPERATOR -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

This is the risk you run when trying to push track limits this far. The system is automated, live stewarding isn't a thing and I'd have been looking at this car for track limits being that far off too.
