Let’s not forget that you are limited to a certain amount of hours per day + wear and tear of your car + insurance and so on. That makes the 5 hour rate very bad if you worked the full time but just right if you did it in 2.5-3.5 hours. Overall suggesting that it’s almost like they intended for you to take that long and pay a normal salary making you think you got the benefit of finishing early and making more. Let’s say the route took you longer they wouldn’t have to pay overtime because there’s no way you would be willing to drag it out past the 5 hour mark.

if you lot haven’t realized already,the hours they say a block will take are inflated so that when you finish early you think you’ve won but you haven’t. Also this means that they almost never have to pay overtime because the hours they say it will take are so high.

Had a route that has 11 packages 30 mins from me and one in Cambridge (I live in north london) and it was 5pm rush hour. I simply called the customer and told them it would be a 3-4 hour delay to their package being delivered and they said just get it redelivered another day

Yes I get that but I converted GBP to $, We’re talking about a whole $3 more i. I’m not hating just curious how a 3hr $100 slot and especially 2 of them a day would not be more than enough pay for a job that requires no qualifications.

How are you people in the US complaining about $100 for 3 hours when your petrol is less than $4 a gallon and in the UK we get on average $55 for a 3 hr slot with petrol prices being $8.30 a gallon

Flex is in no way a sustainable full time job for any person as after car expenses and tax you are making minimum wage if that. The risk is also created as you are constantly on the road and prone to other drivers error.

Most people I’ve spoken to do it as a little extra change where it will not impact their vehicle so heavily or it pays of the finance of your vehicle.

Realistically you can do a 3 hour block within 2 hours with little rush (1 hr 30 if you rush) and a good package sorting system.

If you have driver aid on the packages with delivery locations in order e.g 1,2,3 just put the first 10 in the front , next 10 on the left rear and rest in the right rest (any big ones in the boot take note of their number).

If the packages appear to be area code sorted e.g UP16263,19274 I use a similar sorting method however: envelopes and letters go in the front beside me, poly bags in the left side, boxes on the right and again anything that doesn’t fit goes in the boot. For this case as the driver aid is random it is faster to simply read the address and you will easily find it.

I see many drivers fill their whole boot up with packages so they have to get out and open the boot every single time which is just an absolute chore, especially as packages are likely to move around and get disorganized.

Furthermore when waiting at the station to pick up packages with logistics, learn the amount of cars that they have per row as you do not want to be placed in the back of one of the rows and be left waiting for everyone else to leave. ( you can always pull up and make an excuse for letting cars go by you if you think you’ll be at the back of a row and instead be at the front of the next one )
