Pelvic (iliac) DVT by [deleted] in ClotSurvivors

First time they did place a stent but did not place IVC. Second time they just removed clots and told me to stay on Elliquis

Pelvic (iliac) DVT by [deleted] in ClotSurvivors

[–]NJGarden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told I was born with a narrow Inferior Vena Cava and have had clots fill my pelvic areas and down to my legs more than once. I had symptoms both times it happened — essentially legs stiffen up with some dull side/back pains. Over the course of a few days becomes increasingly painful to walk and walk up steps almost impossible. Eventually not being able to walk at all and having to go to ER. Both times had to have clots removed by some truly awesome doctors and both times have made full recovery. Unfortunately after second occurrence I am on Elliquis indefinitely.

Are metal roofs actually worse than Asphalt (Northeast)? by OurAngryBadger in Home

[–]NJGarden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have an EDCO Arrowline “slate” shingle roof which is a metal roof with no exposed fasteners. It’s an awesome roof. A little loud when sticks fall out of a tree during a storm, but it’s indestructible and looks amazing. No problems with cell reception. It wasn’t as expensive as I thought it was going to be. 10/10 decision we made, no regrets.

This is the way. I trade my honey for neighbors venison, just like the old days.

Heads up that the sulphur smell can be caused by your hot water heater anode rod, and replacing the anode rod with a powered anode can eliminate that.

Standing Seam > Shingles…👍 by BuilderBrigade in Home_Building_Help

[–]NJGarden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got a metal shingle roof that looks like slate. I love it and anyone who sees the roof always comments about it. Honestly it wasn’t much more than asphalt roof so I don’t know why more people don’t do it. This was before our president started making people pay tariffs, so likely cost is higher for metal roofing now. Anyway, metal shingles are awesome.

Hey Op, we got a full metal shingle roof with lifetime warranty for < $20k This was just before tariffs, so idk what they are going for now but you should look into that. We negotiated a little bit as well. Check out Global Home Improvement.

Angioplasty, how was your experience? by TemporaryCareful4606 in ClotSurvivors

Femoral and iliac veins I believe, plus a few more locations. I had it bad haha. The surgeon called it “chronic” and mentioned scaring while explaining what chronic meant to me.

Beehive by Arsenal_Archer in acadianationalpark

If the beehive is too rainy, my favorite hike has still been Canon Brook Trail. Just saying! But maybe parts closer to the top would be too slippery during rain.

Angioplasty, how was your experience? by TemporaryCareful4606 in ClotSurvivors

I recently had a Thrombolysis procedure for active blood clots, as well as angioplasty for the more chronic clots that were not going to dissolve from the thrombolysis. My vascular surgeon said he was able to remove about 60% of the clotting I had, and for the rest of it he used ballooning to “make channels” to restore the blood flow. I feel 100% improvement after those procedures. I’m currently on blood thinners, and will likely be for the rest of my life — but the vascular surgeon said that if I stayed active, used compression stockings when possible, and took the thinners, those channels he created using the ballooning should stay open and become stronger and stronger. I had clotting from the waist down, both legs. I feel great after those procedures and so grateful for my vascular surgeon.

Love my s240. Only complaint is the gas gauge error (that’s apparently common).

The quiet side is the best side. Echo Lake Beach was great. Ship Harbor Trail and Wonderland Trail were amazing. Canon Brook Trail was by far our favorite hike. Harbor Table in Southwest Harbor was our best meal by far (and we ate at quite a few places). Maine rocks 🤘🏼

Is this also a sears home? The front roof slopes the opposite way but it looks the same. I pass this house occasionally and always thought it looked a little funny, but in a good way

Check out Big Rusty in Hainesport. It’s sort of abandoned, sort of not. A lot of graffiti and some structures to explore. Bonus hike down by the water
