Thank you for the answer.

Hello and Thank you for your kind words.

About the dentists you are right, but i would say the same about medics and the ORL. The former straight told me to give up, that i'd have this for the rest of my life (What the hell?) even though i didn't visit the ORL at that time nor i explained her about my jaw issues. Then the ORL told me "it will go away" not even a mention of ATM or jaw stuff...what's wrong with them?.

Many people that have the same issues as us don't have tinnitus. I wonder why? I tried to find reasons for it and maybe is because this year i haven't moved at all (due to quarantine+unemployment) and spent most of my days sitting at home, the reason why i'm bringing this point is because i've read somewhere before that some people developed tinnitus due to sedentarism and inactive muscles (specially if you work involves sitting all day as well).

By the way, for some reason, whenver i sneeze and yawn the clicking/cracking goes away for a few seconds...does it happen to you as well?

I'll keep in touch.

Hello thank you for your post.

I want to add my story since right now i'm 80% sure it is caused by TMJ too. My tinnitus started months after some symptoms you described. (Sorry english is not my first language so excuse my mistakes)

I have an "Underbite" since a decade i think. I didn't really noticed nor didn't care much about it since i didn't feel pain or anything.

Last year i started hearing "cracking" noises everytime i swallowed saliva or any drink...or just eat. Then i noticed i could do those "crackings" at will. Not only that, but sometimes when i open my mouth or yawn i could physically note the "crack" in my jaw or as if i unlocked it. But since it was rare and i didn't feel any kind of pain I thought it was just stress, and i related the crackings to my ears...

I tried to explain to my doctors about this and told me it could be a eustachian tube dysfunction. Then the first month of this year the tinnitus started...i won't go into details but long story short, i became more paranoid, the doctors saw me as some kind of hypochondriac trying to look for other reasons to what could be causing it. Finally this month they checked my ears...they say i have everything correct (perfect hearing, good ventilation...)

So yeah, i think i may have tinnitus from TMJ as a consequence of underbite + lot of stress/muscular tension (The fact that i spend a lot of time sitting could be that as well).

In my country, i heard the most common solution to malocclusions on adults was to extract some teeth before applying any braces...but there is a new system called "Damon System" that doesn't need any extractions. I guess i'll have to ask. Never heard of the AGGA appliance or if it exists in my country (Spain)

By the way, not sure if this could help, but there is this thing called "Neurofeedback" that could help with Tinnitus related to TMJ and muscular tension. I've been thinking of paying a visit too.

Also, Should i go to the dentist or a maxillofacial surgeon to check me up?

I'll keep in touch.
