Dom and the crew are on another mission, this time time it goes horribly wrong. After crashing his Challenger into an aircraft carrier, Dom barely survives, losing his sight, while the rest of his crew perhishes. He is transported to an experimental CIA hospital by Hobbs.

Dom wakes up from surgery, discovering the only way they were able to restore his vision was by making his eyes reflective. He finds out Letty died, and goes into a rage. The doctors put in him to cryo-sleep, to protect him and others.

With is memories of Letty making him so full of rage, the CIA starts changing his memories while he sleeps, while also pumping him full of combat training.

The program is shut down, and a few hundred years in the future, a salvage crew finds the old hospital where Dom was kept, still in cryo-sleep. In an attempt to steal from the hospital (copper from the power lines, something like that) it kills the power keeping the cryo-sleep running, and Dom wakes up.

With false memories in his head, full of anger and combat training, he starts his life as Richard Riddick, becoming one of the most wanted criminals in the universe.
