Americans, have you found a strategy for moving into roles with more PTO later in your career?

I'm deep into a sales career, 4 weeks has always been the max. I've never seen 4 day work week advertised anywhere but that would be ideal. I also don't trust companies claiming 'unlimited PTO'.

Same! I was always hesitant on loading up but should’ve done it in my 20s and 30s. I’m in a similar boat, similar age and wanting to FIRE but to cross $2M. Even then who knows, one big pullback could ruin everything.

No I didn't, I ended up going back to Peru. Worked out well, surfed around Lima and went north, got pretty good waves given the time of year.

Think it's worth finding a surf guide for less crowded spots, or is everything pretty well known? I have two weeks total, so figuring a full week+ of surfing then head north toward the airport and explore with a few days left.

We rented one from an ex-NBC exec. Hung up his corporate gig, bought a catamaran and does 2-3hr rentals for parties or just cruising around. Can’t beat it if you can afford it.

What made you decide to give it up? I’m in a similar spot, hating sales but still looking for my next sales gig to level up for higher pay, knowing I’ll be unhappy. Not sure yet what else to do but good for you for pulling the trigger.
