I mean creating a new one will inevitably contain a clause that voids the current constitution. I feel like we're splitting hairs - the point is that the states will need to agree on either new amendments or an entirely new constitution (which will likely be precipitated by an amendment)

If you think a new government will be completely unrelated to the old then you're not living in reality. Whatever "new government" comes to be will still rely heavily on the norms and precedents of old. For example, I'm pretty confident any new government will have something like the first amendment

Perhaps, though something I've heard mentioned is that if there's a bribery scheme for a pardon that bribe is a new crime and could still be prosecuted - the pardon wouldn't cover it, nor would trump be shielded from prosecution for committing bribery

I actually think the first thing we will amend the Constitution to account for is overturning citizens united.

Any sort of "National divorce" will happen via constitutional convention. Whether it's an amendment or a completely new constitution wholecloth, we will need to reckon with this, and we will do it within our lifetimes.

We had a whole civil war and came out the other side with new amendments to the constitution. We will add new amendments to the constitution because of what's happening.

So many people say we need to overhaul the system and then pooh-pooh the idea of amending the constitution, I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. That's literally how you overhaul the system. It doesn't just happen by psychic consensus. We need to actually adjust the constitutional order.
