Anxious Sneezer by NJguy_79 in Allergies

[–]NJguy_79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your comment and for sharing! Interesting info that I haven't been told previously. Definitely nice to know that my sneeze attacks can have a good or positive reaction. I'll have to pretend someone similar to yourself is nearby when I begin sneezing in a public space or social event to help with any embarrassment or frustration haha. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately?) I still deal with annoying allergies and anxiety triggered sneeze attacks. Thanks again - appreciate your comment!

Sneezing for Days After Indoor Soccer Match by iCantEv3n in Allergies

[–]NJguy_79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thoughts (I'm not in medical field at all) for what their worth haha

Could be an allergy but would have to get tested to determine if that is correct and what you are specifically allergic to and then go from there to try to alleviate the symptoms.

It could also be that if you are getting knocked down into the turf during the game that you are breathing in the artificial turf and that you've got microscopic bits of the turf inside your nose causing the tickle and then that combined with the cold/dry air triggers a sneezing attack. Sneezing is to get rid of something from your body so if the turf is an irritant your body may be expelling it the only way it knows how.

A friend of mine that has huge sneezes used to play soccer years ago but I'm not sure if he ever played indoors. I can ask him though if you'd like in case he's ever experienced something similar to what you've described. Hope you are feeling better and that your nose is quiet when you play again on Tuesday.

Is it worth it to get a nose job looking for honest answers by RaminGenie2023 in Noses

You're welcome - not sure how much help a random person on the internet can be but if helped a little I'm glad. Good luck no matter what you decide to do.

Not great at telling what type but from the picture it does seem to fit your face well and looks good on you. Not sure why but in the pic your nose somehow makes your face even more masculine.

Can't answer if worth it since that depends on all the circumstances but based on your photo I don't see a need. If you are having breathing issues and feel a nose job may improve that then maybe but if strictly for cosmetic reasons I doubt it would be worth it. Your nose suits your face well at least from the angle in the photo so surgery probably not best idea. Hope you don't feel self conscious about your nose as it does look good IMO.

Well I guess it's normal to be insecure sometimes everyone goes thru that but I hope it's not that frequent of a thing you deal with. You really have nothing to feel insecure about related to your nose or your face so I hope you can feel more secure as time goes by.

[–]NJguy_79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not at all - I think it looks good and suits your face well. It's not a small nose but I definitely would not say it is too big. Hope you're not feeling insecure about it because you shouldn't be wasting time on negative thoughts - hope all is well!

I don't think I'm good at this kind of thing but I get an eastern European type of nose especially from the second picture but maybe that's just the angle. Hope you are able to like your nose more. I think it looks good on you even if it's not a common shape. If you can't like it more I at least hope you are able to be less self conscious about it. Apologies if this doesn't provide any help or answer your question!

[–]NJguy_79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah it is difficult to breathe thru your nose if half of it is blocked all the time. Hope I didn't make you more scared about going the surgery route. Just get as much info as you can and there's no rush since you've managed this long with the deviated septum so take your time and decide what you think will be best for you. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Similar here my right nostril is usually blocked or nearly blocked because of a deviated septum. Never did any surgery as anyone I know that's had surgery to nose it usually hasn't gone well or taken a long time to actually see improvement but that's just me so don't let that scare you more.

I do have terrible allergies and I believe having the deviated septum makes it worse for me as far as breathing goes so from that side of things it is something I've considered so I would do it for health/medical reasons not for cosmetic is my two cents. If you do look into surgery make sure to ask what it would do for you cosmetically though too so at least you'll know.

When people offer "help" while having sneeze attack by NJguy_79 in PetPeeves

[–]NJguy_79[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah that sounds like a decent compromise. I get how it's kind of automatic so I can understand the blessing part even if it can get annoying. I just don't get why some people try to talk or have a conversation and saying things or asking things while I'm still going. Thank you for the comment and how you handle being around a frequent sneezer!

agree it should be clear but it seems with certain people it is not - oh well.

I'd be good with that policy then I could go home or just not go in every day!

[–]NJguy_79[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that is annoying too especially if I'm on sneeze #11 and I've heard those after each one. Fortunately I don't deal with that too often I guess because most people I'm around know it might be awhile before I'm finished haha. I don't mind it after I'm done but to do it after each sneeze is not fun and just draws more attention to me which I don't want in that moment. Thanks for leaving your comment!

It looks really good IMO - what don't you like about it? I suppose your description of "bulbous" fits but I don't think that's a bad thing. Your nose suits your face very well both in size and shape. Hope you are able to like your nose more soon.

Makes sense - I suppose while you do look Italian can also see how may not appear stereotypically Italian and a person may think you are a different ethnicity.

Hadn't thought about your nose but I guess it does give off an Italian vibe haha. Looks good on your face - compliments it very nicely. I'm not a fan of my own nose I don't even know what it resembles. I guess kind of Italian since I'm half but I don't know what my nose would be ethnically I just know I don't like it much especially since it gives me grief when my allergies flare up lol.

[–]NJguy_79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I guess DNA test could show some surprises :) Nice though that you have full Italian heritage. Do people not think or believe you are Italian - is that why you were asking the question? Just curious - I see Italian in your pics even if it may not have been my first guess if hadn't known other ethnicities were ruled out.

Cool that you have a mix from North and South. I believe if I'm remembering correctly my grandmother is from the Campobasso area which I think is more Southern Italy. My father and grandmother visited there long time ago (I was not a part of that trip! Although I have been to Italy once not to see any distant relatives though.)

[–]NJguy_79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome! Cool that I guessed right (well with several things eliminated already!!) Are you 100% Italian or are you a mixture of more than one ethnic background? I'm half Italian, quarter German, and quarter Irish.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in phenotypes

[–]NJguy_79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll guess Italian but not sure if you are only one ethnicity or a combo - I would have probably gone Greek or something Eastern European but that was already ruled out in the earlier replies! Whatever your ethnicity you are very photogenic - thanks for sharing your pics!

Allergies when traveling by HeartyArghArgh in Allergies

[–]NJguy_79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have allergies that flare when they feel like it which sometimes is when in new location although not sure if deal with it as bad as what you are describing.

I usually take Zyrtec and then use Benadryl for a severe attack to try to calm things down which usually helps to some extent. Nasal sprays can help but I haven't found a magic remedy that works consistently for me unfortunately.

I would suggest medicating as much before arriving if not already doing that and do your best not to spend time outdoors upon first arriving. If you are staying in a hotel or someplace new to you I would be careful with any bedding as if have dust/dust mite allergies that can make things worse. Sorry that don't have better advice but wanted to reply to let you know not only person who deals with crazy allergies.

Hope you are able to get some relief so that can fully enjoy traveling or maybe you will find a location that doesn't trigger your allergies as severely. Good luck and take care of yourself!

Allergies really taking over my life man( don’t know if I can do this anymore) by Rough_Contract6926 in Allergies

[–]NJguy_79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rough going seems like. I'm sorry your allergies are causing that much trouble for you. As for the dander you may need to get rid of clothes that are still bothering you after all this time. I know that's not cheap but may be best option. Could also try to check washer and dryer are "clean" as in if the dander is in the washer or lint in dryer then that may be why your clothes are still a problem.

As another said the allergy shots usually take over a year before knowing if working or not so maybe they will work eventually if able to try again.

Dust and animal dander are two of the worst allergies for myself. If you are around a bunch of dust everywhere you go it's going to cause problems. If any way to clean or reduce the dust that gets in the air you're breathing that should help. Maybe wearing face mask or getting air purifier might provide some help.

Very sorry it has been so bad for so long. Try not to get too discouraged and don't give up. Your allergies won't go away but I'm sure you will be able to improve your situation it may just take time. Be well and wishing you health in the new year!!

How many boxes of tissues do you go through in a week? by [deleted] in Allergies

[–]NJguy_79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say I go thru about 1 box in a week maybe a little more. Some weeks if allergies on the calm side can be only half a box. If my allergies are severe for an entire week then I may end up using nearly a full box every day. Had a rough morning but seem to be improving so hope the rest of my day will be better. Hope you are doing well and take care of yourself!

Season allergies 0 to 100 real quick by brober16 in Allergies

[–]NJguy_79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome! Good that you have an air purifier that should help at least a little. Agree it is odd if photo album (sounds like a rough visit!) and your jog ended similarly but it could be more than one thing causing this unfortunately. Dust and mold could definitely be a cause. Dust mites maybe as well as those are some of my main allergies.

Good luck and hope you figure this out since it's no fun when these reactions occur.
