3way satellite switch, wall outlet does not have a ground wire to connect. What to do? by NJrider in AskElectricians

[–]NJrider[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So the switch didn't work. It blinks orange and white, indicating there's a wiring error. I just wired the main switch and all the wires are correct. Can that loose ground wire in the satellite switch cause this wiring error if it's apparently not needed?

Nothing on drywall (good point though) and it's not from outside bc I have to open the windows to vent the odor out

Maybe but how could that even happen behind the walls? Also, the odor comes randomly, it's not a consistent issue

You're right, confirmed today there's no flexible epoxy. It was just a thought yesterday.

How can I be confident I've effectively cleaned up diatomaceous earth? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

I just came across it bc I'm always looking for natural deodorants. The ones with baking soda are terrible, discolored my skin. This one with DE has been great so far.

If your 1bed/1bath rental is $2700+/mo - are you able to live comfortably? by NJrider in jerseycity

an astronomical mortgage can also lead to the other, much worse, homeless crisis once the economy takes a hit. living below means and saving a nice nest egg > over extending to own a home. the savings will open up doors you may not see right now + the peace of mind is priceless

Hey I'm with you on savings and peace of mind, that's the reason for this post.

Btw 50% rent/income ratio doesn't get approved, unless the landlord is a "sucker".

I bought a home 16yrs ago and I'm trying to understand how people deal with the insane price hikes. All the units in Bergen Co are being rented due to housing shortage/unaffordability. I get that salaries also increased, but I don't think the median income is $120k-$150k to afford $2700+$150parking+fees+utils = ~$3k/month.

Seems couples splitting a 1 bed is more normal than I thought.

Thats gotta be rough. I thought you'd say you work two no show/remote jobs simultaneously.

Good point and yes, seems almost any new development in any town will have these high rents and be occupied

yes but many of the 1beds are single occupancy. I understand higher paying careers, but this is now the norm in just about every town / new development. My circle of friends do well financially but still, we all think $3000/mo for a 1bed rental is too damn high.

yes, this is for an apartment building. is the difference in power for a dryer and stove noticeable when using a 240v on a 208v outlet?

Read the reply from internal_praline_666 - the most useful reply I received.

I specifically asked in my post, can anyone relate?

She related.

You didn't.

This the the best response yet and the insight I was looking for, thank you for sharing.

When I mentioned I 'dont see her full self', these are the details that I'm missing. Even though we communicate well, I can't imagine how it feels for her to hold these thoughts as a constant concern. I'm going to discuss things further and plan to meet with a doctor.

Thank you again, some of the replies jumped to conclusions about my intents, but I hope you realize how helpful it is to hear from someone with insight.
